even with wheel openings cut, it looks likes a clean cut.   Put the right wheels back on it and it would still look pretty nice.  Maybe lower the body a bit and it will look even better.   Paint the wheels yellow, sand the edges.    That can be a pretty nice car.    I bet it will go pretty high.    I haven't looked at the front end recently, and I'm not sure if the body can be lowered with  the Ackerman front end.

I think that lowering the body would be tricky.

I think (as you say put the stock wheels back on) I would add a color matched fender flare to fill the space.

It's been awhile since a RTR Cox Lotus has been up for sale, just saw this one, with as we have come to know, it has its side numbers on the fender.

Looks to be in good condition too.

Matt , was a wealth of knowledge on slot cars and was a good guy to boot . He would go out of his way to help you with anything , from finding parts or info about a car. I dont know what happened for him to stop posting , but I wish they could resolve their issues and come back to slotblog . We are all on here to exchange ideas and enjoy a hobby that we all love . Life is too short !!!

Best Regards,

Don
