Such a good looking body, this one had been cut down so low I could not fit the GE monster motor under her curves. So I built it with a 26d witch fit perfect.

Can any of you, slot car sleuth, tell me which is the rarest Dynamic die-cast aluminum chassis and which car did it power?

Nicest GE Mirage build ever has to be the one built by Rick Thigpen.

P - did the first Mirage come in any other colors? I've got an orange one with yellow stripes that seems to be factory painted, and came with the box...

I would have to guess it's a Dynamic Super Bandit with the in-line chassis?

I was also thinking that, but I went through my little pile and think I found the main bits, so I dismissed that one.

Don, as far as we know, black was the only color. However, as in "never say never" as I have learned to practice in this strange hobby , you might want to post a picture of yours, and I can compare the window masking with the Dynamic job?

Jairus, actually it is indeed an inline chassis, but only ever sold inside this kit:
If you find a car, you have the chassis. Otherwise... well...

All the Dynamic Super Bandit use the one-piece Dynaflex front wheels/guide mount, and the parts you show are too short and for another car, but the rare part for a Super Bandit is... the body! Especially an intact example without chewed up side mounts.

Maybe I missed it, but what's unique about the Swinger chassis?

Mike, it is the only Dynamic chassis with an inline motor mount for a Mabuchi FT36 with a Dynaflex suspension. The kit had a Russkit "33" motor, itself very obsolete when the kit was issued. This chassis was never available separately, and as far as the kit, well, I have only ever seen TWO examples, while assembled cars show up time to time.

Steve, this is exactly what you got. Now what happened to the rest of the car?

I can't remember where I got that bit from, so I guess I'd better go through the mountain of other misc stuff to see if it might be here somewhere.
Thanks Dok...

I was lucky enough to find this example of this rare (and odd) Dynamic car.
Definitely a strange collection of parts.
Do need to find the headlight lenses and maybe a mirror to make it complete.

Nice car. The body being that of the AMT Cooper-Hussein, your best bet is to seek a static kit of the model, that will have all the parts needed. Such a kit would be vastly less expensive than buying a slot kit or car. You might also ask Brad Blohm if by any chance, he does or did make reproduction parts for that car.

Here's my Mirage, as found, except I replaced rear wheels (oriiginally blue foam) and the gear, which was an original Dynamic. Seems factory painted to me, tho can't swear it was sold as a slot car by Dynamic like this.

Don,
Sometime in the past, I had a parts list of everything available From Dynamic pertaining to the GE motor. They showed the Mirage available in black and red. They also showed you could order an orange McLaren body as well as a white Chaparral. No orange Mirage listed. Yours could be a very well painted once clear body.

Thanks Tim ... interesting about the orange McLaren on order - maybe you could do an orange Mirage as well.
Besides looking like it was factory masked, I just noticed something else: the intake stacks are painted orange also, and somebody who could paint this well would probably have masked off the intakes and done those separately in black/chrome, non?
Of course, maybe I'm just reaching for straws, since I'd like to have an original bod...
Don
PS: Just looked back at PdL's photo of the Mirage in its box: the intake area is silver - oops...

Martin, is your yellow stripe original/a decal?
Looks very similar to mine...

Yes Don, that is the decal sheet that came with the factory car. They were already applied on mine when I got it. Number not in the preferred location, but I left them as is.
Found plenty of pics of the interior not cut out and the in-take stacks not painted.
This lower pic is were the decals should go, IMO.

Don,
it sure looks like the same color as used by Dynamic on their McLaren RTR, so I'd say yes, it is original. Then I remember, we do have it too as a RTR but featuring the "evo" chassis with brass side bits... so much for my memory.
As far as the listing showing "red", that, I have never seen, but again, "never say never"!
