Eric,

Those racers' full names are either given elsewhere in that race report or are the display names they use here at Slotblog.

I've stated the decade-old policy at Slotblog regarding race reports here and have provided the rationale for it numerous times. Those who don't wish to abide by it are welcome to post on Facebook or wherever else they wish to report on their events, big or small.

Bottom line is that is the policy isn't going to change.

From the first day of Sano 12:

The fact that you won't report about RP because the race director didn't put full names in is mind-blowing.

At both the recent USRA Div 2 Nats in NC and the Wing Car Worlds in TN, full names were entered into the race computer without question; it was a complete non-issue.

At the RP, not only is it not being done that way but there are many who seemingly find it perfectly acceptable...

Now that's mind-blowing.

I think on both coasts (and probably in-between, as well) there are those who just don't care about nationalizing, or even internationalizing, slot car racing. In fact, there are those who are proud of their insular exclusivity, as in "Our game, our rules!"

Is it good for promoting the sport/hobby? Not likely. But to some it's more important to not be told what to do/how to run their show, than to adhere to a simple procedure that would likely help to promote things.

Thanks for the podium info, Ken.

But what about the other 44 racers in that class? They're just 'chopped liver' losers, right? No need even to mention that they were in attendance.

Never said they were chopped liver nor losers... everyone who goes to these big events are not losers, they put a lot of time, effort, and money to come and enjoy themselves and the hobby they love.

I would post the 44 others but I don't know most of their full names and I'm not going to waste my time to post without it to only have you delete it.

I was at the track last night and not one guy seemed upset that their full name wasn't in the system; in matter of fact one guy wanted to be called Shrek!

I'm done discussing this. Lets hope the next post will be Palooza-related. Have a good one!

I don't think anyone was 'told they had to input full names.' Rather it was requested in the nicest way possible that be done so a comprehensive report of the race results could be posted and archived here.

Eddie, you're the fourth person just today to opine to me that they "just don't care."

Do you not feel those racers deserve to receive some level of respect, too? I certainly do... and they don't get it if their attendance and participation is not properly recorded.

Tony Melendez AKA Tony Hammer ;-) is killing it!! Won GTC-FK, got into GTC-Pro and won it from the B main, and now he just qualified first in Can-Am.

Just my 2 cents worth:

With just nicknames and first names you turn a "Premier" event into a local Friday night shootout because only the racers there know who is racing, much less who's fighting for a podium spot...

I've never found the live streaming of slot car races to be very useful. Drag slot car racing would be even worse.
