Sounds like it's shaping up to be a heck of a weekend.
Yep, the depth of racer talent here exceeds any other Retro race I can recall.
Wish you were here, John. I was asking about you yesterday.

Here's a sight familiar to racers at just about any IRRA® Premier Race over the last decade: the brutal 'Tech Nazi' Noose making sure every car meets the letter of the rules. He may not be the nicest guy at a tech table, but he's without a doubt the fairest and most even-handed scrutineer to be found anywhere in slot racing. There's no counting the number of Retro cars he's teched over the last dozen years; it has to be in the thousands.
The field for Stock Car is 42 entries, which will give three eight-man mains at the top and two nine-man round-robin mains at the bottom. This is a one-and-done format, with final ranking based on lap total.
Concours, as usual the IRRA® events, is awarded based on racer voting. For this class, there was a tie for second.
First places goes to Gary 'Hip' Culy, with Noose and Atlanta Slot Car Raceway owner Clyde Romero tied for second.
L to R, Noose's second place car, Hip's winner, and Clyde's second place car. Note that numbers and logos on Hip's car are hand-lettered on the outside of the body.
Qualifying is underway as I post this, in the typical format: best single lap turned in a one-minute qualifying attempt.

Congrats to Doc on second place in RetroPro!
I wonder why there are so few entries in RetroPro?
Posted 08 November 2019 - 11:43 AM
It's a class that is run only at a few large events, so fewer and fewer people are committing to it.

Pretty easy to tell, the Red Fox bodies have a much more pronounced front spoiler.
Looking at the rack of cars, I would estimate maybe a dozen Red Fox, the rest VFC (maybe some Outisight and/or Parma in the mix, can't tell from the pic).
I would say Duran definitely had a Red Fox.

Carsten's fabulous LapMaster software produces some extremely interesting analytical charts and I'm going to post a couple of them for the A Main.
The first chart is what Carsten calls the race development table. It clearly shows that Jerry Herbert led the A Main from start to finish, but it was a real dogfight for position behind him.
The second table is the actual vs. potential chart. It basically shows which racer got the most performance out of his car. Note that over the full race, Jimmy Williams got more of his car's maximum potential than Jerry did (98.7% vs 98.0%), but as qualifying showed, Jerry had the faster car and thus didn't have to run it as close to its maximum in order to win the race.

For GT Coupe FK, 25 entries were presented at tech and all passed... eventually. Thus there will be two eight-man mains and one nine-man round-robin main. As this is being typed, qualifying has been completed and lanes are being chosen.
... with three cars missing.

The racers voted for concours and the winners were Clyde Romero, first place; Rich Theisen, second place; and Charlie Geibel, third place.
