I want to thank Danny Zona for loaning me a car for the F1 race. I really appreciate it. This car was much faster than I could drive it.

Not surprising.

That race was run with only five racers in it for most of the race.

The A had a full field for all of the race.

True enough, Mike.

I was just observing that the quality of the field was not shallow.

That a murderer's row of F1 podium finishers, not to mention a killer field of other competitors. Had to be an awesome race.

The A had a full field for all of the race.

The B Main did start with eight racers in it and finished with only five.

Yeah, Vinny Cafazzo broke a guide just 2.8 seconds into the first heat and Dom Luongo had a crown gear come loose, damaging it, and he pulled in the first heat. So heat two started with only six.

Greg Fox bent his car in a crash, but he can't recall whether it was in heat 3 or heat 4.

The eagerly-anticipated Can-Am class will be contested on the Engleman today, the last day of Fall Brawl X.

Cars are still being teched-in so I don't have a final entry number yet. There were 32 cars on the rack the last time I walked by.

The final total of entries for Can-Am is an even 50 cars, so eight mains: seven six-man mains with one eight-man main to start. Top two finishers in each main advance to the next main.

ca.rack.jpg

Concours was a tough vote for most of the racers. In the final tally, Gary 'Hip' Culy took the concours award for Can-Am, Noose was second place, and Dennis Dominey and Ryan Bruce tied for third place.

ca.conc.pod.jpg

L to R, Dennis Dominey then Ryan Bruce, third places; Hip Culy, first place; Noose, second place.

Qualifying for Can-Am is now underway.

A factoid for your consideration...

At the last Brawl there were 13 guys below the "magic" 5 second time, but 'only' nine this year.

Cheers,

These 'splits' emphasize the incredible field of racers present at this year's Fall Brawl.

Difference between the qualifying times between...

Q1 to Q10 = .173 secs
Q11 to Q20 = .072
Q21 to Q30 = .139
Q31 to Q40 = .112
Q41 to Q50 = .453

Calling the competition close doesn't go anywhere near far enough to describe what's being demonstrated here.
