Yes it seems to me that the guide flag will move up and down along with chassis as the suspension reacts to bumps. Best to eliminate the suspension by using light springs that allow the guide to be vertically stationary and planted in the slot.

The guide is a Revell according to http://slotblog.net/...-pickup-guides/. Steve is a godsend to us slotters.
