Trimming and pinning the Lotus body has been relatively straightforward. Skirt trim lines aren't real concise but I'm not complaining. This is a real easy body to slam down low. Trying to make it as perfect as possible before I send it to Noose. Almost ready to harpoon  :music:

Body trimming and pinning complete, washed with Dawn, boxed up and ready to send to Noose along with two Warmack mirrors and a Noose interior

Car is complete (minus body). Final drivetrain test 100% successful, everything is happy with a distinct lack of vibration. And she screams  :bb:  Weight sans body is 98 grams. Balance point is right at the drop arm hinges

15 thou of spacers under the flag and a 10 thou above as a tuner. Two hollow Koford grub screws on the Chicagoland aluminum collar. Koford big head body pins bent and ready for the body. All hinges lubed. Brass polished with Mothers California Gold. Parma old skool flag clips, 20 gauge TQ lead wires with a Jet Flag

Mura sticker is delicate, so I covered the outside with a layer of thin Scotch tape

Thanks guys. I'm confident it will be fast and handle sweet. I mounted a used Jay Guard IRRA® race body on it and tomorrow it gets shipped to Chicago for Mike Swiss to test  :dance3:  :D

I just got to try this car.

It's very well built and runs terrific.

I just PM'ed Pablo with my impressions.

He, of course, can post them, if he wishes.

I knew Mike Swiss would be my best choice of testing this car - a World Champion who won't sugar coat anything  :)

The rumor floating around of this type car being "chattering" evil handlers has been dispelled as of now. Simply a matter of bracing the motor correctly. Mike said "no chattering, no bunny hop, very smooth".

"Handling and driveability - very predictable, but fish taily, probably due to narrow tires and 3" track"

"Horsepower-too much for the tires"

"Gearing/gear mesh noise? Sounds just like a whistling Faas gear equipped car with a fast motor"

"Motor heat, or lack thereof? You can tell it's being run. A tiny bit warm, but I don't consider warm a bad thing. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 room temp, and 10 blazing hot/will eventually blow, I'd say a 3."

"Any bad habits or improvements needed? I question if you need that much front wheel slop, but other than that, I don't think you'll improve it without going to modern rubber or and /or a wider front and rear track".

Mike's other comments were, the blue tires were a limiting factor, and beginning to chunk. Which is music to my ears, telling me I did my job well. If the motor has enough power to ruin the tires, and if the chassis is putting that power down, well?  :)

Test: Satisfactory. Now the car comes back home, the Noose painted body will be the shining star. I'm as happy as a dog with a rib bone  :D

Now stick a 24 wire steube or mura in it with orange tires and tons of glue with a 8/10s ohm parma controller with no adjustable and experience the way back machine. Lol.

Very nice job

Car arrived back from Chicagoland. Apparently Swiss runs a very clean track; the only thing I needed to clean was the tires. I found one micro-cootie on the chassis - that's it. I swiped a lighter fluid rag over the braid and it came back surgically clean. As many racing events as he has, it's amazing. No dust no boogers.

Car is still in perfect condition - no broke joints, nothing tweaked. Just cleaned the tires and she is ready for the body

Thanks Isaac  :)

4+ months have passed since this build started. The moment of truth has arrived - all I have to do is place cross-hatched filament tape rectangle pieces on the inside mount holes, re-harpoon them, and pin the body on  :dance3:

The body paint is such a beautiful work of art - I'm almost afraid to take it out of the baggie

Body holes reinforced with small rectangular pieces of cross-hatched filament tape, then re-harpooned. Install was, of course, a piece of cake. Noose work is 100% perfect as usual

IMG_0047.JPG

I polished "THE 888" brass one more time, and gave the drivetrain one final short test. Sings like the thoroughbred it was designed to be
