This will be our 3rd annual event for this race.

Been a lot of questions regarding this race so figured we would get a better jump on it this year.

This will be the official thread for the race. Any and all information, questions, etc. will be listed here. There will be a duplication on Facebook in a few weeks. Both will have the same copy / paste information.

This race will be a 3 day event. This may hinder some participation, but overall people don't like racing until 11-12 pm on Saturday night and then driving home. So we will try a more time friendly format and see how it goes.

We will run all classes on our American King.

Preliminary details -

Raceway hours

July 23 (Wed) - Raceway open 12pm - 9pm ($10 pit pass)

July 24 (Thur) - Raceway open 12pm - 9pm ($10 pit pass)

July 25 (Fri.) --- Raceway open 10am - Midnight (no pit pass for racers)

July 26 (Sat.) -- Raceway open   7am - 10pm (no pit pass for racers)

July 27 (Sun.) - Raceway open   8am - 5pm (no pit pass for racers)

Racing classes and dates

July 25 (Fri.) - Retro 4.5" Stockcar tech opens at 6pm

July 26 (Sat) - Retro Coupe FK (handout motors) motors handed out at 7:30am, tech opens at 9:45am

July 26 (Sat) - Retro F1 tech to open within 1 hour of GTC completion

July 27 (Sun) - Retro CanAm tech opens at 9:30am

Entry Fee's

Stockcar, F1 & CanAm $15 per class

Retro Coupe FK $33 (includes 1 handout motor). Additional motors will be available for purchase

Awards

Event plaque of some sort

Top 3 awards in each class for Concourse

TQ award for each class

Trophy to the top 10 in all classes.

Top 3 overall (must race all 4 classes)  1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100

Stay Accommodations

We are working on getting a host hotel setup within a few weeks. There are a lot of options within just a few miles of the raceway. Air BnB's are a reasonable option in the area as well.

Airport

Denver International Airport is approximately 50 minutes south of the raceway.

Things to do

Colorado is known for its outdoors and wild life. There are also some great attractions and non outdoors things to do. Leslie is working on a list of popular attractions for those that are interested making a vacation out of the race. Meow Wolf is a great interactive art experience that is really a fun adventure just as an example.

Food

We really try hard to keep everyone fed throughout the event. Not only meals, snacks, desserts and comfort foods throughout the event. This is all complimentary so that you have lots of extra money to spend in our well stocked parts department. Menu is typically posted a month prior to the event. If you have special requirements or allergies, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.

Last July, I stayed at the Homewood Suites on 46th Ave just behind Lowes' It was less expensive than Hampton Inn and Fairfield Inn. they have free hot breakfast and the room had a stove, refrigerator, and microwave. There are many restaurants and fast food places within a 4 block radius as well as a Target  and Safeway. It is a short (5 minute) drive to Duffy's. May not fit everyone's budget, but It's not terribly expensive.

I am in the very early stages of planning a tour and race vacation in Colorado so there is a good chance that I will be able to attend, sounds like a lot of fun.

Brian,

The actual announcement on Facebook was: "As of today, we are closed temporarily until further notice. We will be making an updated post February 5."

So more info should be forthcoming in a day or two.

Do you currently race on the American King track? The races on the Facebook page look like they are ran on the hillclimb.

As of now they race on the Hillclimb. However, I believe their plan is to have the King refurbished and rebraided for this event.

Any updates about this race?  Assuming the race is still a "go" my plan is to attend as well as do some after-race touring of the area.

I believe everything is still in place. I know Matt and Leslie both have been busy getting the King ready for Janis to work his magic. My guess is that if for some reason it isn’t ready, we would still race on the Hillclimb.

They have been busy preparing the King for this event. I was at Duffy's two weeks ago and the King looks amazing they were finishing up the wiring.

This will be my third year attending and if you don't come you'll be missing out on a great event and the best hospitality you can image.

Food is always provided throughout the event. Their parts shop is incredibly  overstocked with every thing you could imagine, like a "candy store".

I'll be traveling from OKC on the 23rd of July. Want to get in plenty of practice!
