After looking at Steve's "Popsicle Stick" car I think maybe this is the place for some of my latest projects. Because they have resin printed chassis and repop bodies I'm thinking they aren't really vintage even though I use old 16D and 26D motors. The wheels are generally made by me and the tires are fresh. When I run out of Cox guides I use new ones from various companies.

Some times I try to mimic chassis' done by the brass and solder guys and sometimes I use production chassis  from Dynamic as inspirations.

 

Here is the latest. Dom has a Porsche 906 available and I've always liked that car since Russkit came out with the Carrera sidewinder so I grabbed one and built a car around it. Still needs decals and looking for an interior but it's ready for track testing.

Great job building the Porsche, Paul. My first commercial slot car I bought in 1967 was the Russkit Porsche Carrera kit, The body & original motor are gone, but I've saved the rest of the parts. Someday I intend to restore that car. As you get closer to completing the Chaparral be sure to post photos of it on here.  Steve Okeefe is a phenomenally talented builder with most any material.

Who makes the frame?

Jim the frame is resin made on my resin 3D printer. I know just enough of a software called Blender that I can design and make a chassis to play with. This one has a rear pod design similar to one I made to go with a Dynamic front tongue and axle mount. On this one I changed the front half to be simpler and stronger for the material used.
The material is a water washable resin that will break fairly easily. I call my chassis “one crashers”! But some designs have made it through several wall hits surprisingly. And of course I can always print spare parts!!

I’m playing with another design now that will mimic a plumber design. I’ll post that one soon.

Fred, I had it all in one STL to print but It was missing corrections I had made so whenever I get around to getting it all in one place I'll post it here.

Paul, are the rear bushing/bearing holes 1/4" or 3/16"? Which size cans will this chassis fit? Is it wide enough for a FK can? (130 mm)

Bill they are actually 5/16 x 1/8". I have plenty of 1/12 scale RC front wheel bearings which are that size and work great. I usually have to make the holes a tad bigger than I need as they seem to come out smaller after printing. Everything is done in metric because Blender seems to be easier for me to use that way. 7.94mm is 5/16 so my holes are actually 7.96mm and I still have to clearance the holes but it's all in the fun!! 

 

This chassis is for a 26D can drive. Is an FK like a Retro Hawk? That's the only "new" type motor I have.

 

I haven't printed it yet but I've beefed up the front axle mount area by a bunch and the rear a bit.

I've updated the chassis and was thinking of using a glued together IMC T70 model for a body but it's just been long summer with too many other projects. Obviously it's going to be a Lola.

Xbox veut rien dire c'est juste que quand je me suis inscrit sur les forum a l'époque mon gamin jouait a cette console et je lui est demande un pseudo et il ma dit Xbox voila le secret .a + fred 

 

Xbox doesn't mean anything, it's just that when I registered on the forums at the time my kid was playing this console and I asked him for a nickname and he told me Xbox, that's the secret. See you later Fred

Hahaha thats the way I do my passwords. Ill look around and see a part number or model number on something then add a few things to it. Then of course forget to write it down or save it!!

The chassis looks good Paul! When you get to test it on a commercial track, take some sheet lead with you in case it needs more weight here & there.

I think it's perfect for a home track. Now if I could only find some AI. And, it always works on paper.
