OK, it's cold and what better time to get going on some long overdue builds.

First up is a Dynamic anglewinder. This one is going to be a Model Car Science build.

Here's the first page. What I'm planning to do is not a 100 point restoration but, something that I won't feel bad about putting into the wall.

So, here's what I'm starting with. It was cheap and it's perfect for my intentions. H. R. Rod sent me the other pans and there perfect for this build. I needed one for a much better chassis so I'll just switch 'em out.

Here it is torn down but not cleaned. A propane torch made quick work of it.

The last two photos are of what was attached to the chassis. No idea if it's factory or a owner addition. Anyone ever seen this before?

Page 3, and here's the modified guide. If you look closely, you can see the Cal-Kar drop arm I used for the pattern.

Oops, I went from 1 to 3.

Here's what I came up with for my take on this. With the DuBro bender, it was a joke to make them, ummm, except for the 1 in the motor box. The last photo is the clearest of the MCS mod. It leaves room for interpretation.

I've made the"L" shaped reinforcements but, that all for tonight.

Jumping back to page 1, it sez blue tyres, blue tyres it shall have. Amazing how these come back to life with just a few 1/100" of a cut.

Not as bad as a Flexi 4 but, not good either. If you look closely at the arrows, you can see the cracks in the chassis. With any luck, the clamps will hold it flat and the 0.071" wire will keep it there. Can't remember WTF I did with the 95/5 Silverbrite so until it reappears, this is it for now.

After seeing how bulky 0.073" wire looked on the rear, I went to 0.063"? OK, I couldn't find the 0.073 so I grabbed whatever was in front of me.

I retract my earlier comment about this being better than a Flexible 4. It's softer.

Drop arm, pans and pin tubes next. Ooooh, springs, can't forget about the springs, now can I?

Here's the almost finished product. Turns out that I can't find the 0.015 wire for the springs. So, until then....

Anyone have a better photo that shows the pan springs? I'm still waiting on 0.015" wire but, in the meantime, I've been trying to use 0.020". Trying to find a place to solder isn't as easy as it looks.

While I was waiting for 0.015 wire, I did the unthinkable (see photo)
Had I read the article a little closer, I would have known it was actually 0.020 wire.
Anyway, what do you think about the chassis being polished apposed to it in its natural state?

I wish you lived closer Mark, we could drop your chassis in the tumbler.

Its a nice balance between polish and raw.

For years I cleaned brass/wire chassis with a can of Comet or Spic N Span & a SS braid brush or an old toothbrush under a running faucet. I bought a can of Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish for the few times I wanted a shiny look. A FL friend of mine used the Mother's to put a mirror finish on a Slick 7 blue spring steel Eurosport chassis.

Soda blasting is not a bad way to go either. Gives a nice even matte finish.

It was what I had right in front of me at the time . It's stupid cold here, 24°feels like °, 8° this morning. I'm going to try to finish this today

-4 here this morning. I waited for it to warm up to +14 before I went outside. Our cold weather comes from NY.
