Jim, I have a good selection of the Cox 48P spurs, Slot.it pinions, and loads of strange vintage gears of all types.

If you need something let me know.

 

Stay away from the old Parma 9t 48P steel pinions, they just never did mesh well.

Gator Bob used a brass pinion and a Cox spur. He was a very smart guy.

Sonic 9t 48P pinions are much better than the Parmas and don't easily wear out. Made of stainless steel, they press-on multiple times, then they have to be soldered on. The last I knew they were available in 8, 9, and 10 teeth. If my memory is correct, the bore for the arm shaft is hexagonal rather than circular.

The Slot.it gears have a metric pitch that almost exactly matches 50 tpi. When I was racing basement 1/32, I was able to run US 48 pitch pinions by carefully setting up the mesh. Slot.it pinions are available in some pretty big sizes, but more expensive.

Jim, do you have a home track to run this car on after you get it built? Or do you have a commercial type track in your area to try it?

I'm 95% sure it's a flexi womp with the horns out of the front. I still have one that I ran in the early '90'\s just getting started. I believe the ratio I used was 8-34, but that was with the white endbell 16Ds and it was a long time ago.

 

The car handled pretty well from what I remember and Pablo is right about the steel pinions that Parma had. I always seem to have a better mesh with the plated brass pinions that came on the motors rather than the bare brass ones. Maybe that was just me.
