Something like this?

I've lumped them all together as brass and wire

Had them in a picture frame, they survived the fire, the picture frame didn't. Now it's time a good cleaning and some appropriate motors.

OK,
Red: Racer Products
Purple: Koford
Yellow: Slick 7
Green: Yetti
White: Parma
Blue: Camen
Black dot: the one in question
Two black dots: IDK ,probably doesn't belong here.
The crossed out one is,I believe a JK euro trash.

The one I didn't circle is a Dynamic ,and it's supposed to be Eurosport.

A spinoff of Pablo thread trying to find out who the builder is of a specific chassis engraved TS.

That JK "Euro Trash" isn't. I've built a couple, and they made a good handling race car, especially with the low-downforce bodies we ran on them. Definitely not 1980s, though.

Black dot is a Camen chassis from circa 1980-up. There were two versions: with hinged pans for G27, and without hinged pans for G15. Also available in kit form. It was current product in 1980 and I purchased several and kits throughout the '80s.

Green circle was sold by Pro Slot, Racer-X, and RTR. I had both Pro Slot and Racer-X branded ones. I'm not familiar with this one being sold by Yeti, and the style nose doesn't match any of the several Yeti chassis I did own.

The left chassis in red circle was also sold by Parma as the original Patriot chassis. The left chassis in white circle is a later Parma Patriot. I'm pretty sure the first Patriot was early '90s, and the second mid-'90s or later.

Two black dots is a hand-cut spring steel center section which could be '70s into the early '80s. I had two similar ones but without the wire in the center cut-out which were purchased as trash chassis in the late '80s/early '90s. I know nothing of period and origin. Jim Honeycutt was racing and hand-cutting spring steel in this era and may know something about the origin and period.

I don't recall Jim Bandis (Yeti, Bando, Scale Racing Products) sold chassis that he did not build. I don't know anything about early and later Parma Patriots, but I have a Parma Patriot that is not in Mark's photos. Mine was raced in the mid-'90s.

The Euro Trash was a AI-induced typo. It really is a beautiful chassis, hard to believe it came from the makers of a bazillion stamped steel chassis.

I was told at the time that a majority of these B&W chassis were produced in south America, Brazil? As to that being true, IDK.

The white circle has a Parma tripod and a tripod I built about a month before the Parma. The other one was sold by Parma for, what I remember, a very brief time.

I'm just starting to unpack what I could salvage. Pretty sure that there's a few more.

JK imported several Eurosport spring steel chassis and kits from Europe. I have no idea where his flexi Cheetahs were stamped.

My Parma Defender is like the left one in the white ring. Which chassis are the Euro Trash comments being made about?

Thanks, Mike! I was only seeing part of the "x" and the chassis chopped in half, until I enlarged the photo and moved it all around.

The yellow circled chassis was made after late '83. It was built using the Slick 7-produced Hansen pans. No idea of the rest of this chassis.

Tom, I bought several pair of the Hansen pans but don't recall ever using them.

Mark, your chassis on the right just below the one with the black "X" is one sold by Dynamic, Fast 1, & maybe others. Do you have bearings to fit all these chassis? There may be a bearing supply shop in the Syracuse area. I used to use Alpine Bearings in Boston for both motor & axle. Just told them I wanted a small prototype order.

The S7 Hanson pans were my favorite pans, and I've several pair of both the brass and steel versions. The center section of the Hanson pan chassis is also S7 intended for Eurosport. It was also available as a kit with either the brass or steel version of the pans which is how I got mine.

I also believe Jim Bandis built all of his Yeti chassis, and he designed and had fabricated the brass or steel winged nose that was used on all of the models I've seen. I didn't want to say Mark's chassis isn't a Yeti when Jim Bandis might have sold under his label without my knowledge, but I'm pretty confident it's not a Yeti. And I typed "RTR" and meant RJR.

I've also heard rumors that some of the brass and wire chassis came from Brazil, particularly those that were sold by multiple brands. A common problem with those chassis, and especially the Parma Monorail, is they used some unusual, gray-looking solder, and the solder joints were poor. As Mike Swiss noted in the other thread, the Monorail frequently came apart, the main rail separating from the nose and/or the axle tube, in only a little running. It didn't even require a crash. One of the first orders of business with these chassis before any serious racing with one was to completely re-solder the chassis with some decent solder.

Every one of these chassis should take the common 3/16 OD-3/32 ID axle bearings. My favorite non-raceway source for ball bearings is DMW Products. Don even has the excellent GRW bearings.

There were a few variations of the Slick 7. This one has euro trash wheels and probably different instructions.

Here's most of a 1990 Parma. We were racing this and others on a hillclimb with X12x motors and, wings. I got my a@^ handed to me. Then, I put it on my chassis jig and it was off by a 1/8". This was one of only a couple of times that I had someone set up a car for me.

Doesn't look like a Parma chassis Mark, more like someone's scratchbuilt. That might be a highly modified Parma droparm to hold the guide.

Hi,

Just back to clear up a few things.

Yes, I built all my own frames. I never built them to be sold under a different name or brand.

And it’s BandEs, not Is.

in the beginning, I had full pans stamped out but used Parma nosepieces. I angled the front taps to give them a ‘signature’ look. Eventually, I had my own nose pieces stamped. They were ‘full’ meaning they didn’t have the half hole in them yet. And along the way I had new, lighter pans made.

The original frames were the 420G and featured twin rails of .063”. Later, I produced the ‘55’ which had twin rails of .055”. Along the way I built and sold the 420M, a .072” monorail. Other models that followed was the ‘Omega,’ my first ‘panless’ frame followed by the ‘Omega P’ which was kind of a quasi-perimeter. I was told the late Monty Oren was pissed at me because of the way I placed the front pin tubes and felt he had to change the ones on his.

I also started having steel noses stamped out material so thin Kersken could have bent them with his mind.

My only non-wire frame was the ‘Mondial,’ which can be found in another topic; ‘Is this a pro frame?’ by the late Frank Elasky.

The name 420 was derived from me measuring other successful frames from the center guide post to center rear axle. I used one of those cheap metal rulers and the one I chose measured 4-5/8”. On the scale, which measured in .032” it was 20.32”. So I used the 20 for 420G, the G for Group. Since I’ve never smoked, drank, or used drugs, it was until decades later that I learned 420 was a cannabis reference. Which left me horrified!

BTW in the very top photo, the shiny-looking frame is a very early 420G. Except someone removed the original guide holder and replaced it with a steel one. Either broke it off or slightly changed the length. I never did that.

I also built Pacesetters for Limpach, did the whole Champion Magnum for Carl Ford and for a very brief time, some frames for Joel at his place.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for chiming in, Jim.

On the "shiny" chassis, while it appears the guide tongue is silverish and is steel,

if you look at the top, it appears to still be an integral tongue.

It might have something to do with the chassis surviving a fire.

I thought the same as you.

I went back to the pic because I was curious what guide tongue was added.

I just didn't finish polishing it. Could have been hot laps.
Billnh, the chassis most certainly was sold by Parma and yes, it looks home made.
I confuse Billnh every winter when I tell him that:
The Yetti have taken up residence in my backyard and are BBQ'in Brontasorous burgers.
Some day he'll get it.

I knew it was here, somewhere. Even included a little solder. Thanks Jim for clearing up some of the confusion.

WOW!

Forgot I did this! Or maybe I was trying to forget I once lived in Iowa!

That was like a million years ago. And nowhere to race.

Unfortunately, much like today in Ohio. Ohio was once almost a Mecca of slot racing. Now dwindled to just a meager few.

I miss the glory days.
