What did I miss here? The Alfa Tipo 33 is an entirely different car than those we have been discussing. Or are we back on long tails?

Yep, I think the common thread here is "long Tails" but do not be surprised if there is another change in direction.
"The only thing the same is change" Not sure who said that. But it is true.

Now if someone were to revive the Dynamic Alfa Coupe for retro, that would be interesting, or is the Alpha Alfa Coupe a copy?
(Yes, I know it's a short tail.)

I was just reading MadMark's " my small Dynamic collection" thread. Those who have contributed to that and also this thread ( you know who you are) I think we're on the same page. As far as realism, scale,etc. It was very, very difficult for me to accept,what they try to pass off as ,
"real". To this day, I find it incomprehensible that the following are no longer needed.
1) numbers
2) interiors
3) the toughest one,
FRONT WHEELS
Yet another example of the steady decline of society. I was sold on "all the realism of real racing , only ,on your kitchen table. Unless you're rebuilding transaxels on it. 🤔 In proper society, is was only acceptable to rebuild long blocks in the parlour or, have we sunk soooo far that it's allowed in the kitchen also?🧐

Mark wrote; Dave, how about "Things with long tails and fins"
Always been attracted to things with interesting tails, but not necessarily with fins.
Porsche also did a long tail version of the 917;
And the 935
And I think most LeMans teams followed suit with their own long tailed entries.
Lacia took it to the extreme, with covered rear wheel arches;
Matra had theirs;

Looks like the classic, "Monkey see, monkey do", doesn't it?

Sorry. I don't have a formula, or even an explanation, for the Thresher Shark's long tail. But as far as the Caddy is concerned, it was part of those "finned fifties". Difinately a case of "anything you can do I can do better". Or bigger.

Mark; Your masking job in post 65 is a loose semblance of the phenomina known as "laminar flow". It's that physical property that gives airplane wings their lift, and race cars their downforce. You can't see it, but in a wind tunnel, smoke trails are set at differing heights so that they become visable. Aerodynamicists use that visual representation to design aircraft. And race car bodies.
Laminar flow around an airplane wing;
Each line represents a boundary layer, or better explained, the different levels of air pressure surrounding a wing as it moves through the air. The closer they are together, the greater the air pressure.
If you guys really want to get into this, I could probably come up with some drawings and explanations of how this all applies to race cars, and in turn slot cars, later today.
Thanks to Shutterstock for the use of their illustration.

Shall we go back to
" Name that Ferrari"?
I have a few that have me stumped 🤔 I know I'm not doing what there on. Maybe that's it.

Original Chaparral I, built by Dick Troutman and Tom Barnes. The only slot car bodies for this that I know of are 1/32nd scale in resin. I have two, one already done as the Jim Hall car, and one to do in MeisterBrauser colors. I don't know if there was ever a clear vac formed version.

I will take a pic of the 1/24th scale Resilient Resins one I have. Its a good start , but I have spent many an hour improving refinning it.
It is in the paint queue.
I had to re-cut every panel line and reshape all surfaces. It was rough.

Martin; That body looks good. I have some 1/32nd scale Resilient Resin bodies, that I have done. They weren't terrible, but did need some work. The Chap. I bodies I have were cast by a local guy. They were his second offering. His first was a Scarab, that was kinda awful, but with some putty and sanding turned out all right. The Chaparrals were far better. His Cooper Monaco/King Cobra bodies were not quite as nice, but certainly usable. He was learning fast, and I'm sure his bodies would have become excellent. But he went back to model railroading, and now makes a line of excellent cast resin freight cars.
