Another option for that chaparral would be the 60s one by scuderia scale - blow molded I think, 1/25th scale.

There was no life guard on duty yesterday when I was surfing the internet. Needles to say, I posted my response to Gluebomb's and Dave C 's contributions in the Link that he (GB)had posted. It wouldn't be a stretch of the truth to blame it on the profuse drooling caused by the photos ,shorting out my phone.
I'll see if I can dig up more Ferraris that stretch the truth.
{Drooling optional}

Mark, If you google "Scuderia Scale Chapparal" you'll turn up pics of a completed model on some French blog - nice looking car.

Ok, these two are not toooo much of a stretch of the imagination. Kinda resemble a 512-M.

Ok,JK Enzo vs Kelly RP. sorry about the pictures. At least KRP doesn't have to worry about a lawsuit for copping the body 🤣 . Almost brought a tear to my eye to open it. Susssssh, don't tell anyone, turn your head, I'll just re-seal it.

There were lots of long tailed cars during that period. I can post pictures of more of them. The car in the above post is the Matra in the video I posted earlier, just different graphics. A few more long, or longish, tailed Ferraris;

Another varient of the 512S. There originally was a lower rear body section, but it was removed at some point.

Is it just me or has this evolved into a celebration of some truly ugly cars? :)

Eddie,
Do not adjust your set. We have assumed control of the horizontal and the vertical,etc.,etc.,etc.

I don't remember the 512 with it's firebird/ Camero esk front end. The 312-P, is one of my favorite, even with it's roach like rear canopy.

Now there is a body that is close to home. I raced this one in 69ish. My team color of Humbrol metalic blue.

Never did handle as good as when the same chassis had the M8 body (see avatar pic)

It's you. :laugh2:  The 312P LeMans was one of the most beautiful Ferraris. From any angle. Even if it does look like a squashed-down Dynamics handling body

Even as a Spyder;

The sound goes along with it;

Compare to the more rauckus sound of the 512M

Martin; Love that color scheme. Wish I had a better shot of the "normale" tailed car like yours.

One of my first hot wheels was a green/ gold spider. I still have it, it's with 1,000 sets of keys and 267 Bank cards

Once my M8 body was too banged up to race I switched the the Ferrari body.

But I can still remember it was always tail happy. Loose.

I put it down to less down force and more weight behind the rear axle. So be mindful of bodies with long tails. They work well for top speed on 1/1 cars, not so good on slot car tracks with lots of corners.

Yes and no,  yes the picture on the box is the short nose Dynamic with the spare tire, remember your black body has the longer nose and the grill in back.

....and no, the Calex kit came with the Lancer 2F body not even either of the Dynamic versions.

As a Dynamic completest  collector I still have never found this car or even good conclusive pics to make a clone.  I do have the box and probably all the parts, just need to see a real kit car to pull the build off.

Maybe this half-essed drawing will help show the different aerodynamic effects between a body like the Ferrari (top), and a body like the McLaren M8A (bottom). The high downforce area on the McLaren is more central over the body, whereas with the Ferrari it is shifted farther back. Their designers had to create a balance between the downforce over the front wheels and the downforce over the rear. The McLaren also gains downforce due to the Kamm effect, which creates suction through the open rear of the body. That relates to a partial vacuum under the car, which sucks the car down to the pavement. All this led to the developement of the "tunnel tub" which had what are in effect venturies under the car which created even more suction (Bernoulli's law).

I convinced a female friend to let me affix wool trufs to her then I put her in front of a 24" commercial fan. Concidering the frontal area, she is very, very aerodynamic . I won't get into the negative pressure* 😃, thank God somebody went to college!!! Now I just need to figure out how to get a treadmill in here for the correct calculations.

Dave, I hope you have a good sense of humor. I really appreciate your talking the time to review some areodynamic principles. I have a question about it pertaining to slot cars. As soon as I get time to draw it, I'll post it. Hopefully it's stupid simple.

I have to keep a sense of humor. Let's face it. At my age all I have to talk about are memories and old jokes.

I assure you, no question is considered stupid, simple or otherwise. I learned by working with a couple of "papered" engineers that university education isn't everything. Made me wonder if recreational drugs were an educational aide.

As to your female friend; use your wind tunnel stats to explain to her that she poses a much lower CoF laying down then standing up. (Preferrably face up, where the curves may create lift and that much desired "arched back" effect.)
