Paul, when Modelville was located on Speen St.(Rte. 135) in Framingham, there was another Sovereign there, along with an American Orange & Windsor. That was my home raceway from 1969-75. :) I'm not aware of the Sovereign that was in Randolph. Do you recall the years it was there?

At my age, I have a hard time recalling anything - but, I'm going to guess it was mid 60s maybe? 63-66? I used to wait for hours to get time on one of the lanes of that track.

Dave, that's great news! Another American track here in Ohio. Where is the Royal coming from?

And it's all original surface, still has the T-slots on it. Just been repainted and rebraided into sections.

Larry Harper's Speedway Slots orange/Monarch is the one from the Slot Shop but he took the original surface off of it. When he moved it from the old location to the current, it didn't fit back together as well.

Business there is well done for numerous reasons and I heard through the grapevine that Larry was considering taking down the orange and putting up his oval again so...

Speaking earlier of orange tracks and Bud Bartos... how many of you know that Bud owned an orange track? He bought the one from Big Thumb Raceways in Massillon, OH (the late Clyde Gardner), stored it in his garage, and sold it less than siz months later, having never set it up.

No idea where that one went.

And speaking of orange tracks...

Many years ago, some guy had an 0range that he was going to set up in Sandusky, OH, as part of a second floor arcade. It was all in pieces when I learned about it. I went back a month or so later and found it was a furniture store. But I went in and asked the guy about the track and he said it was still upstairs and in his way. And he told me that if I wanted to move it out, he would give it to me just to get it out of there!

So I started to make the arrangements, went back and the guy said he called the guy who left the track there and told him I was coming for it and he came it got it out of there immediately. Miserable little...

It was one of those weird oranges that was a Monarch not an 'orange' because it had like a wood paneling sides.

No idea where it went.

There was a red in Mansfield that became a victim of a dispute and the guy chopped it to pieces.

And Hillclimbs...

MikeyMac would probably know more about this but the was an original Hillclimb in Delaware, OH. Bartos and I drove up in front of the place, he saw the end of the track through the front window and yelled 'It goes all the way to the ceiling!'

I drove something like two hours to check out a track in Painesville, OH, a billion years ago. It was a Hillclimb and I stared in horror, never putting down my box. Not only did the track not fit together anywhere, on the top turn going into the bank, there was a glop of paster to fill in the gap. Not smoothed down or anything. Just a lump of plaster.

Wow. The proverbial "barn find". Please take some pictures as you set it up, and post them here (separate thread, please).

I don't know about a red track, maybe it was before my time. In the early '70s, my Dad had "The Pit Stop" on S. Main in Mansfield, OH. He started out with an orange, then moved up to the blue. It went out of business around '73 or '74, and he sold the blue a few months later. I remember it being in pieces in the garage. We don't know who he sold it to, or where it went and unfortunately, he died in January, so I'll never know.

If anyone has any additional info about it or remembers the place, place post about it.
