Keith et al,

With our airline-required scheduling shift, Jay and I will not have to leave until Monday morning. We're in it for the long haul and we'll see if you D3 guys can outlast us...

You guys are gonna have to put up with us all weekend... LOL!!!

Sigh... if that's the best you can do, we'll survive...

Dave, great to hear you, Howie and Roger will be at the Checkpoint. What day/time are you guys arriving in SoCal?

It's going to be a great Checkpoint again and the competition will be top notch, but friendly!

Sano,

Great to hear you'll be at the Cup, too. Maybe we can get some bench-racing done this time. It'll be great to see Howie and Roger again, too.

Am I reading the D3 Coupe rules correctly in that they appear to allow "pillow block" type construction and require no rear axle tube? If so I can easily modify one of my old NorCal IMCA GT-12's by simply adding a front axle. Any clarification on these points would be greatly appreciated.

Jay,

I believe this is an over sight and pillow blocks are not allowed. They were grand fathered into the Retro Pro as some folks had built chassis with struts early on however, in the D3 coupes I'm pretty sure you must run a tube or bracket.

P, can you please confirm this.

It was an oversight, sorry, my fault when I corrected another oversight. Pillow block construction is not and has never been and will never be accepted for any D3 racing class and a rear-axle tube is mandatory in the Retro Coupes as well as Retro Pro and Retro NASCAR.
I did review and corrected as needed.
The grand-fathering of older chassis ends on December 31, 2009, so all the chassis used in the Checkpoint cup must conform.

Yep, kinda thought that was the case. I really don't mean to be nit-picking the D3 rules but I really don't want to show up with the wrong equipment. Guess I'm going to have to build one from, well, scratch! ;)
