The wire screen that I have purchased from head shops is gold in color.

It's gold-looking in color only. It's made from brass. Wait; did I say that? Don't ask ME. I don't know ANYthing! I wasn't even THERE! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

OK, I think I remember the name of the ultimate body painter but I might be mistaken. I believe the name is Lucas; I don't remeber the first name. Mind-boggling fades, etc. Can anybody verify this and does anybody have photos?

Bruce,
I don't know if he did better than this but here is a Lucas-painted body:

Can you think of any other body painters with national recognition in the early '70s?

There were two that basically competed with each other in painting. I think it was Lucas and Bloom. If you've got old racing newspapers they would probably name all the painters with the stats of the cars and show the bodies.

I'm looking to get some painted in styles by those artists from any of the guys doing replicas.

Thanks, Philippe.

So then, Tony, who else did you guys use? I know he was selling to the tracks in your region.

The only painted bodies I remember using were by Noose, Connie Tango, Tom "Pumpkin Man Lowden" Lucas, and Buster. Buster used to paint a lot of bodies with Mickey Mouse, etc., on them. Don Barber painted killer bodies and althought he ran my chassis I never used one of his bodies. LOL . . .

Of these guys, I think only Buster and Barber were selling to tracks at the time you are talking about. There was also R&S (Robin Renninger from South Jersey) selling painted bodies.

I only have found two. One needs some, uh, touch up because the background is, uh, not publishable! I will work on those in the next few days for you.
I thought I had more but that is it I am afraid . . . :|

Vinny liked the one I ran at the last Can-Am so he asked me to "recreate" one for him in a different color scheme.

Dom was such a gracious host to me and John Gorski when we visited his wonderful track, I thought I'd send him something as a way of saying thank you. He has a PM from me, too. He now is ready to race a Can-Am!

Thanks Dom!

I seem to remember in the '70s there were two amazing guys who painted under the moniker JAP. I think they were from Chicago. They did incredible cartoon figures on their bodies. I remember a killer Nixon head on one. Also Ted "Sundance" Coates was one of the greatest. Keiji Kanegawa did some awesome bodies as well.

What did you paint that with so it won't die a curly death? As I recall, butyrate and lacquer don't like each other.
