One of my old Street stock racecars. And it's little brother built on a Carerra Nascar chassis.
What kinda 1:1 cars do slot car racers drive?

Current project. 36 Chevy coupe former gasser last raced in 1970 at Maryville Dragway here in Tennessee. Been sitting for many years until I heard about it and had to save it. I'm a Vice President in the Pharoahs Car Club, yep those guys.. featured in American Graffiti so during the warm months my focus is almost entirely on real cars. Slot cars give me something to do in the Winter.

More gasser pics. As was the norm back in the day it's has a 58 Olds rear end, way stronger than most anything else ever built and the choice of even the top fuel dragster guys. This one came with 5.38 gears but I've tamed it a bit for street driving with a set of 4.10 ratio gears. Home built square tube traction bars than have been on there since the 60s. Modern upgrades include front disc brakes and a T5 5 speed trans. Lots of period correct stuff though. My intention is for it to look like it just woke up from a 50 year nap. Will even have a parachute from one of Bruce Larson's funnycars.

10 hour round trip 50 gallons of Diesel.
2 hours testing 30 gallons of VP 110 leaded.
New Project Mu brake pads provided incredible modulation confidence.
Added front rebound on shocks pinned the front end.
Perfect test.

Surprised you don't have a Mustang.

Spitfires are fun. I had two. The first one convinced me to change from muscle cars to something that went around corners well, and didn't suck up a lot of gas. That was during the first gas crunch. The second one I bought to drive while the Alfa-Romeo was in the body shop waiting for a quarter panel that fit to come from Italy. After I got the Alfa back, I decided to race the Spitfire. It got way off stock. In the photo, the roll bar is removed to get the top (hood) to fit.

Just saw this thread. Heres mine. 79 Spitfire. Got it about 6 months ago.
Really like the dark red, was that an original color?
What’s the name of the color?

Isaac,
Nice looking Spit. I see two practical choices on your part : the hard top for American weather and cardboard under the card to keep the oil off the garage floor.
Just curious is it still equipped with the smog choked engine or has it been back dated to a healthier power?
My first car was a 1967 GT 6 bought well used in 1972; "Triumph sports cars, making roadside mechanics out of ordinary drivers."

Mine was House of Color Candyapple Red with a deep gold base coat. The wide stripes, barely visable, are House of Color Brandywine metallic, which has gold chips rather than the silver of their other deep red metallic.
The rear flares were mocked up using green foam, then molds were pulled for the flares to be layed up in fiberglass. I modified the front suspension so it could be quickly changed from 3/4s degree positive for street driving to 1 degree negative for racing. It had a Lotus Europa steering rack. The rear suspension is GT-6.
The engine was bored .030 over, and the head was modified with Chevy valves. The guides were moved so that the valves would clear each other, and the block notched to clear the intake valves. The ports were also enlarged. It had two Weber 40DCOE2B carbs, and a JC Whitney header.
The car was a real hoot to drive.
P.S. When an English car is not dripping oil, it's empty.

Mike, yes, original color. Only one repaint. It’s called Carmine Red.
Bob, yes it’s quite the leaker. I have already replaced the valve cover gasket cause it was leaking pretty bad but it’s still got the drips. I personally like the hardtop better and it does seal better which I will need for daily driving. The smog system was taken off by the previous owner but it is otherwise completely stock. Soon I will probably add a downdraft Weber and a header. The GT6’s are nice, hard to find though and when you could they were a bit over my price range.

The local Triumph mechanic would disown you. For him it's SU's, Strombergs, or nothing (yes I know Lucas injection on TR5s and foreign TR6s).
The problem I heard with carburetor conversions is air cleaner clearance. From experience with my Dodge and Lancia a Weber/Holley 28/32 is a good plan.
