All of the cars looked great. Got to see them when we were there for our Retro East finals, unfortunately I cannot make the race date to run them. Should be great on the Jersy Devil!
Thanks Noose for checking them out, sorry you can't run them.
Quite a diverse crowd of craft and complete with battle scars.
If you get near that Dyn-Astro again please try it .... lol ...and sign it.

A couple things to make note of is the fact that this is the first time "Dyna Rigg" has ever been on the podium! Way to go John Dilworth! Also looks like that "possible concours winning" car, if we had such an award, is back on the podium. Congratulations to Al and Barney for a good showing coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively on the Jersey Devil.
With the exception of Kathryn's "Miss-K" and Ray Price's "Manta Ray", everyone else pretty much ran a similar race to the Akron track. In some cases, nearly the same lap numbers! This also marks the first race we have ever had where no car was damaged or burned up during the race. With no cars to send home, I believe all machines will be sent back to Salem Oregon for the last race at ASA Hobbies. (Date to be announced)
Oh... and a big congratulations to Ray McGlone and Brian McPhearson for finally sorting out the problems plaguing "REM Raceway" (The builder should be strung up). That car had it's best showing of the entire race yesterday. Even bested me, but I'm not spiteful, and was even sniffing at "Wavemakers" heels most of the race. Way to go Brian!!!
Another car to mention was "#44 Vimanas" as it had it's best race the whole series finishing in the top 8 for the very first time! Congratulations to Ray "O2R" Fellows.
As for the aformentioned "Miss-K and "Manta Ray", I will be doing some forensic testing along with track time to see if what ails them can be determined and repaired. I will be in-touch with the owners prior to any repairs.
Much thanks to Mike Iles and Jay Kisling for hosting a GREAT event! Also thanks to Barney Poynor for making the long trip to NJ to help direct this leg of the adventure.
P.S. a quick glance at the points show that unless there is a huge upset... the top spot could be taken by either "Scorpion" or "Wavemaker" as only 2 points separate them. Third place is pretty much a 4 or 5 way race depending on how the last race happens. I expect Barney will fly up here now to protect his investment. We could use a good director with experience.

The cars have all arrived back at where it started, back in my studio bunker here in Salem, Oregon! They traveled about 28,000 (+/-) miles around the planet, zig zagging through six countries with races taking part in multiple locations.
Now it all comes down to this last race to be held at A Step Above hobbies in little ol'Albany Oregon.
Some of the cars have shown a need for immediate attention. "Miss K", #7 "Manta Ray" and "The Needle" for instance all preformed way below normal operating parameters during the last race at Speedzone. I hope in the next couple weeks to give all the entries a little forensic exam, some cleaning and adjusting prior to the next event at the end of this month. What I find I will post and hopefully the three mentioned cars will be taking to ASA hobbies track for testing this Friday. A full report will follow of course.

Bob, your "X-2" had a tire rubbing the body in the back. I adjusted the body mount and applied a good coating of Zip Grip.
Ray's machine got the pans hammered flat again. Tires remain very sticky and it's butt is up in the air too. (I should have turned those as well)
Kathryn's car gets the prize however for the most sticky tires ever. Anytime I set it down it nearly glues itself to the table or stand for some reason. So care must be taken when picking that one up and I bet it's the best handling car I test. Her car got the body taped up and I pulled the motor apart to see what was dragging on the arm. Must have been track gunk because that's all I found. Sings a sweet tune now!
Joe, "Titanic" has some pretty hard tires plus the rear end was up in the air so much that I turned down the vintage Dynamic rubber a 1/16" and applied a good coating of Zip Grip. Feels better now. What I find funny about Titanic is it's running a stock Mabuchi same as Ray and yet Ray has done so much better in this series. They both weigh the same so I think with modern rubber "Titanic" could have done better overall. But, I applaud you for staying 100% vintage this whole race.
"The Needle" got a new rear axle and should be smoother, while "Repelatron" just had bad tires. The second set of tires I sent as backups are SBR. Nice when fresh cut, but a year later, even after being stored in a tube they where hard and no amount of Zip Grip would help so I glued and trued up a new set on the original first wheels. Nothing else needed to be done.
Oh, and the light green car on top left, Yeah.... that's my D3 car that I never took to the Pete Zimmerman memorial race. It needs testing as well so thought I'd take that too as a baseline standard.
