Nothing left to do but crunch the numbers and determine the winner. A few unfortunate upsets happened and only one tragic accident.
We started off right at noon with the first of 25 heats. From left to right our intreped and now very tired drivers are: Bob, Ken, Matthew, Josh, Roger, Zak, Paul and Kris on Black.
Seconds later the power went on!
Well, the first heat went off with-out a hitch and the spectators came and went as the hours passed.
Our track marshals, mostly friends of the drivers, worked long and hard for two and a half hours as we slogged along for 25 heats.
The first sign of any problem happened unfortunately when "H-Power" entered the frey. She charged along on Red like a locomotive until getting messed up in a pile-up with two other cars. Then started chugging along at granny speed. A quick check found that the end bell bearing had popped lose from the endbell. I poked it back in and we finished the heat with only a few laps lost. Second heat she ran beautifully, but when I moved it to the next lane that I noticed that the bearing was half way out. I popped it back in and crossed my fingers but it only went one lap before expiring and it was retired with a DNF. Can't be doing that every lap. Very sorry John, it worked very hard for this entire series on that one little motor and to give up so soon is really hard to accept.
Another problem child was "Dyna-Rigg" who kept losing a lead wire clip out of the nose of the guide. In her defense she took quite a beating during the crash fest and by the third time shoving that clip in, I managed to get the clip in deep enough to let her finish the race. But the damage was done.
Miss-K broke a lead wire and lost a few laps while we soldered that back on, but it wasn't too tragic as she only lost about 10 laps in one heat. (A note, when a car broke, we didn't stop the heat, but did extend breaks between heats until the car was fixed. If it could be fixed that is.)
"Repelatron" broke a lead wire off the guide flag during it's last heat. I looked at the lead wire hanging there with only a minute remaining on the clock... and retired her for good. Probably lost about 8 to 10 laps, but there was no way I could fix it in that amount of time.
Like John says: It's all for fun anyway. (right?)

Nothing more to say other than the track was pretty slippery. I said I wanted the track cleaned and so Matt took about 40 minutes and a lot of elbow grease to clean it, and then added a light coating of glue to the turns. It wasn't enough as I saw cars that had great tires slipping and sliding like crazy. But... it was the same for all cars so not much I could do. I applied Zip-Grip to all entries as they entered the circuit for the first time and anytime any car looked like it was having problems negotiating the track.
Scorpion showed lower than I would have expected but it was one of those cars that fish tailed all the way down the straight anyway so my only explanation is that it's tires were getting too thread-bare after the prev. 9 races. Clearance is about the thickness of one good business card anyway. Still, I don't get it why it finished so low.
Unfortunately Gary is going to get "Rocket 88" back with a badly bent frame. She suffered hard in a very tragic wreck that bent her frame totally unfixable. I was going to retire her then and there after her 5th heat but decided to keep running laps telling the drivers to take it easy as that poor car was crabbing down the track on 7-cylinders. But did they listen? Hell NO. Most just floored it down the straight and ran that poor car into the turns with aplomb. Heck, it wasn't there car was it?
Gary, that machine deserves a special place of honor on your shelf just the way she is because that 4th place spot is YOURS! Well done and quite a few drivers said they thought it ran great.
Huh.
The shirt and the car are retired.
Jairus has cracked the second beer.
I won't be running a leg of ANY proxy race again anytime soon.
The cars will be posted in the mail on Tues with battle damage. I fix nothing at this point, not even mine so deal with it!
Final tally soon as I crunch the numbers. But we all know who wins this damn thing.

Thanks and Congrats to EVERYONE !!!
BTW -
Are there 8 owners that would like to run a one 'last car running enduro" ? No repairs, come as you are. Here (in Fl.), there or anywhere.
With a solid group of drivers that have local track knowledge and enduro experiance...

I'm the only competitor with (much) under 100 points!!
Like Eddy the Eagle.
But, first, one had to finish last and, second, Needle finished, as all winnig cars did, too!
Once back Needle will get her confetti parade.

If I were awarding prizes for pure Dynamic builds I would give special recognition to: "Titanic", "The Needle", Oscars car, "Mubachi Racha", "Le Derriere", "Dyn-Astro X2" and "Six-T". They (in no particular order) are wonderful replicas of vintage cars from the era.

Only need 5 more out of the 22 cars left. Best to sign up before Jairus gets ready to ship.
I'll put up a big trophy for the car, box plaques for the winning car owner team drivers.
Pull from the GRRR (Retro), FCR-NCS (Parma) and MySeries (FL.) drivers.
Many very good and some great drivers that know these tracks.

Congrats to Steve and Edo on their podium finishes and it was a pleasure racing with the best Thingie builders in the world today as we speak!
Thanks to all the track owners and the people behind the scenes who made it happen.
Naturally, I'm a little disapointed going into the last race in 1st place and ending up 3rd and more so because nobody seems to know why but, hey it was fun!
I will now be having fun laughing in the grandstands at the "Balls Out" races! Can you say "DeSlot?"
Best regards,
Z

I suspect it was my fault asking Matt to clean the track before the race.
