This post will be the cars running in the "C" Main.
C Main
Bob Israelite- 9.837
As already alluded to, with the big Pittman motor, this could be
referred to as a slot train. As slow as it is , the vintage rubber
isn't that much of a detriment. Racing 8 of these would be cool.
Racers would be clawing for every inch.
Jens Graf- 9.238
Another Pittman powered car. A bit faster and fun to drive.
A bit of wheel hap but not that bad.
Joe Lupo- 7.621
This car suffered from contact problems. Once I cleaned the braid and
trimmed the body a hair, the car's superfast motor started to go and it
dropped it's speed by a full second.
Just the same,a tippy car with wheel hop and a fast motor with no brakes
should provide for a real challenge for the drivers.
Don Siegel- 7.560
Fairly smooth but 103G isn't going to do it on the flat track, especially with a body with no down force.
I discovered when the spring pops off of the wire front end, the car
goes from tricky to drive to undrivable.
Ralph Klose- 7.417
Nice down the straightaway, but too hoppy and tippy in the turns with
it's short wheelbase, light front end and wide rear tires.
John Austin- 7.361
Nice power band down the straightaway and nice brakes with
the big 35T crown, but too tippy in the turns.
Will probably fare better on the King tracks.
Phil Smith- 7.348
Short, noisy, tippy and hoppy. Wide sticky rears, square and flared on the inner edge, probably aren't helping.
But it's just drivable enough, I'm predicting a podium spot for it in the "C".
Dominic Zimmerman- 7.313
This is a car that could really use a more conservative gear ratio,
wider rear tires or a parachute.
Ballistic Pittman can motor with almost zero brakes.
Real waggy in the turns but not tippy.
With it's smoothness and predictable handling, if none of the racers
drives it through my front window, it should win the "C" and might
place higher overall than some of the "B" cars.
Ray Fellows- 7.268
While the fastest of the C cars, probably too tricky to drive through the esses for a good finish.
Pretty nice down the chute, but another car with the bad combo of a light front end,
no downforce and wide rear tires.
Throw in a softly sprung Dynamic wire front end and as the guys on the local sports talk show say:
"We got a recipe for disastaaa" (disaster)

I'm in it for the FUN of it all!, and to help out Jairus with all his hard work. Nice packaging,BTW.Edo, Brian McP, Bugman, we have a few days left to bench race.
Great viewpoints of all the cars Mike, Hope to hear the same honest opinion on the other mains?

Sounds like a fun race
Go Bob I ! The Underdog
Bob has a lot of bonus points and that train motor will probably make it the whole series opposed to some of the other time
Based soley off this first round qualifying, I'm more worried about mid pack cars such as Oscar's who have a lot of bonus points . Assuming Steve's Wave Maker wins every race and Oscar's car finishes mid pack every race it won't be until the 6th race that Steve's car is in the point lead.

Mike, thanks so much for tweaking my lump. Again, first car I ever built for competition. I knew I was in trouble once I saw all the "Pan" cars. I did not install ball bearings in the rear because I thought it might kill the braking. Good thing as you state it has no brakes now . Feel free to sand those rear tires, The rear rim setup is kind of a butcher job with two rims back to back on each side. That motor is NOS and once it breaks in I expect another full second drop in lap times . Again, thanks for all your effort and thank the guys who are driving too. Joe

Jairus, I was pleased/intrigued that there were three cars entered with G.E. motors... now, I'm intrigued that they are grouped so closely together insofar as lap times.
Are they all stock? What type of magnets were used in those motors and can they be zapped?
John, I found it interesting that not only do we have three GM motors but we also have 6 Pittmans including three Pitt-cans! This year shows the most diverse spread of motors EVER!
As for your question, all three GM motors appeared to be stock and un-opened as it would appear 2/3's of the field seem to be powered by stock un-modified motors.

Thanks Pablo and Rob,
Marvin could/would win if the rule was "no replacement parts allowed except rear tires"

Oscar, Braids Only... "Game On"
We might as well have a challenge in a Challenge .
Will there be any other awards?
Most creative
Most realistic ???
Most durable
Maximum Destruction (flip the Astro's lead wires and run back-ards waiting for a "Rider" ) At least the arm timing would be right and prob 1/2 sec faster laps.

Speaking of Zapping...It has become easy to confuse Government Motors with Government Electric, I think they share a common BoD.

A reprise of the C Main cars is reposted above.
B Main
Brian McPherson- 7.184
Nice predictable handling. Goes through the esses pretty well.
A bit of wheel hop. It's hard to say if the inside of the rear tires
hitting the top of the body is hurting this car.
Oscar Morales- 7.165
Smooth as silk, whisperjet quiet, but maybe too waggy to contend for a podium in the "B".
Picked up a tenth as soon as I reduced the gear lash with the Cox crown.
Paul "Pablo" Wolcott- 7.144
Runs similar to Oscar's car. A skosh not as smooth and a hair noisier.
Again, maybe a little bit too tail-happy to contend in the "B".
Kaiser "Edo" Edolf- 6.919
Good motor with nice breaks. Good in the esses. Pretty smooth
with a tiny bit of wheel hop. This car picked up a quarter of a second
when I reduced the gear lash and could contend for a podium spot.
Gary Vogeler- 6.881
Crazy fast. Another St. Louis area car that needs a parachute.
Very smooth and terrific in the esses but the lack of brakes might
prevent it from contending in the "B".
Bob Steere- 6.877
Another car with a nice Pittman 6001. Very smooth but very
unpredictable at the limit. Chassis is extremely short and almost
appears it was designed for a different body.
Steve King- 6.775
Extremely noisy (hard fronts?). A bit of wheel hop, but nice predictable
handling could get this car to the podium in the "B".
"Manta" Ray Price- 6.652
Another whisperjet. Super-smooth and killer in the esses.
A tiny bit tail-happy.
It's superiority in the esses make it the favorite to win the "B".
A little more motor and another 1/16" of rubber in the back are the only things
that kept it from racing in the "A".
John Havlick- 6.523
Nice motor and very smooth.
Like Ray Fellow's car, the fastest of this Main, but very little chance
of doing well with it's tricky handling at the limit.
Zero downforce Q-tip box for a body, but more importantly, a very short
approx. 3.70" wheelbase and 4.25" guide lead (axle to guide post).
A terrific build that I would of liked to have seen executed
at a normal length with a longer/normal body.
