The cars of the Dynamic Challenge Thingie proxy race

Jairus did a great job packing and labeling them.
I got in about an hour of initial running before I closed.
The cars are very cool.
The variety of innovation and terrific execution really reminded me why I love slot cars.
Other than Ray Fellows car running backwards and another car suffering from contact issues,
the cars ran fine after a little tire preparation.
I did a rough "grading" of the cars in the picture below.
The fastest car is lower right, the slowest is upper left.
They run in rows bottom to top, IOW, John H.'s car is tentatively
9th fastest.
The car I was most impressed with was Mike Zimmerman's idler gear car.
It's very smooth and the fastest car that doesn't have an aerodynamic body
or aero enhancement.
2nd most impressive was the Kathryn Bartlett/Steve Kempson entry.
Again no aero and a narrow track, front & rear.

...story of my frikkin' life, always a bride's maid and never a bride ...to coin a phrase No matter, I'm just happy to have a car entered and hope it waits to "smoke" until at least after the first leg of the race!

PS...although I do take note of the fact that Barney's car is right up there with one of my motors. GO TEAM CORT!!!

I have been battling Sir Kempson for 4 of these darned races and most of the time, find myself coming up short! (Did well in 2008)
Seems I am still behind him yet again....

and resetting the computer, I went ahead and qualified the cars.
Here's the quick n' easy results.
I started with the slower cars first. I'll retabulate the order when I get a chance.
The new order of the cars. The top 4 stayed in exact order as I had them
roughly seeded and the top 10 are still the top 10.
The original order I had them after 5 or 10 practice laps with them.
(minus John A's car)

Well it sure is good to the Dyn-ASTRO x2 is on the top of two lists now.
BTW, Can I change the name and decals to Done-Astro x0, or is that considered an unfair disadvantage.
"am I wrong?"
Don't forget I'm the points leader for now

Hey there Johnny, Don't get too excited. Not asking for an unfair advantage. Just stating that I never really built a car for competition. Most of mine are for looks and an occasional lap or two. I figured if it is falling off the track maybe somebody can stick 10 cents worth of lead on it somewhere. If touching the car will incite anybody than lets just say race it as sent.
I am doing this strictly for fun, even to get this far is great for me.
...just funnin' with ya Joe I'm like you and really don't give a hoot about where I wind up here. I just think it's cool as heck to see this many mostly accurate cars running vintage motors in one race series.

I guess all that testing paid off? Plus you're starting with about 2 million bonus points. I'm just glad the Proxy is finallly here.

Hey Mike it must be that SCM experience that allowed you to pick the top ten with just "seat of the pants" feel and then to run them on the clock and peg it, not close or almost correct, but PEG IT! WTG!
WTG Oscar and Pablo on your runs as well! I just noticed half the field is REAL Dynamic cars!
COOL guys. We needed 2 classes.
