Hey Jairus,

Posted Image

Will floppy pans be A-OK in this series? Not at all trying to open a can of worms or complain (I go with whatever the "rulezzzz" sez no problem). I don't even know that I would use them, but wanted to understand any design limits that might be important. I had been figuring a simple/light piano wire perimeter-type chassis with some bracing and might still go that way, but I figure that these bodies (not being full-on aero "wing" types) might need some chassis mass and maybe a bit of movement to handle better.

Well... someone early on strongly suggested no body movement be allowed. At this point I have not set any rules into stone. Only that there be little as far as rules besides the technology date of 1970. (or was it 71?)
Been a while since we talked about this.

Personally I want to stay with the music wire frames of the early Choti's, but if Glen wants to add drop arms and floppy pans... I say go for it!

I might be able to fathom in my ancient mind, no body movement, but I just NEED a drop arm. :laugh2: I dont think Ive built anything ever without one!

No one is stopping you Bob! :sun_bespectacled:
Cut off date is 1970.
The two tracks are Kings and the races will be about two weeks apart.
No attached aerodynamic structures.
The spirit of the thingy is to NOT build using modern technology, but a careful and well balanced vintage looking chassis. Preferably like a U-Go with a Choti body.
A lot like this:

Hey Bob! You don't want to buy anything from that guy. He has used numerous names and devious descriptions of items over many years. Gus in Sacto

Bob, looked like a fun car to play with, but didn't look very vintage to me. Interesting that the seller shows a Falcon motor in the car but says it is to be sold with a 16D Parma Deathstar.

Been busy with home repairs. Got tube for axle/bearings ( Thanks for the info Jairus ) hope to start soldering this weekend. Gotta get the axle and motor bracket squared up first before I can work my way forward.

So, as I read it most recently, a "one winger" choti is OK, but if I staple a wing to my vintage body, its not OK? That silly wingy-thingy is a good percentage of the handling, 'specially on a Blue King, so's I got's ta knows!

Agreed... referenced the paint scheme as the the only thing that looked vintage. :laugh2:
Didn't look like that body was ever mounted.

Bob, I don't know for sure Bob how many will enter. There was a lot of interest in the beginning when I suggested it but only one, my mule, got built. One is still under construction I think.
Some are waiting for the official rules to be stated I believe, so they know what envelope to push.

I expect 12 to 24 cars, but only 8 will be needed for a proper race.

Maybe if a car count limit total and a no later than date is set then activity might pick up.
Just saying... set/pay the entry fees and see who is in.

Bob, I am not interested in running TWO proxy races at the same time. We can wait until the current one is done before starting the second. No harm in that is there? Unless you want to take it on? :)
