I was still waiting on hearing about braid depth? And you think this ? Will get answered Ray?! :)

with the newly rebraided Gerding King, last week, there is virtually no braid depth now, maybe between

Sure would like some input from folks that race at the two tracks

Does anybody even race at Eddies anymore?
I can measure the braid at BP on Saturday for you kooks.
Although with .063 clearance on a tech block, I don't see why it matters. . .

Hey J, As you have reserved #42 for your ride, I wondered if this time I could reserve #4. I know there are more important things to think about but I'm always a step ahead of myself.

I was going to ask that too Bob. I guess not as there is to be no maintenance and it is the sum of both races that counts (so in effect its one race on two tracks). Only thing I would suggest is that if there is a huge difference between braid depths that some allowance be made for this and maybe shimming or de shimming allowed if necessary. But I'm not the boss and I'll go with what J says.

Seems there is about .010 difference between the two tracks now. I don't think it's an issue any longer.
Al, It will be done!

The only tech will be primarily on this thread. You are to post at least three pictures of your car here so we can vote that it fits the rules and spirit of the proxy. Read the rules please as it is clearly explained.
Then once received at the first track someone with a tech block will check that no part of the chassis touches and that the rear axle clearance is .062 Then it is good to go. No car can be mailed in until all other entrants have had a chance to see what it looks like. No dark horses or late entries this time. Cut off date to be announced very soon.
Second track will do same just to protect the surface of the track. Any cars that are too low or in fear of touching will be disqualified but there is no rear axle minimum at the second track and none needed if the car passed the first.

Jairus this is what YOU posted! IT SAYS...

"7. Minimum .062" chassis clearance measured under the rear axle at start of race including gear."

At each track there will be "a race" 2 Races.... Make it clear so people do not have to ask! Don't get snotty with people because you do not make it clear! I've had people ask me because of this rule alone (and others) and don't want your attiude.... so they are asking around to find out.... so I was another that asked you to make it clear. People should not have to read the entire thread to see if they missed it.

So you are going to .062 for the first race and the 2nd race gets ran with what they have left or does the car have to clear .062 for both races??

Note times... Steve I asked this morning and got this response at 11:13AM... He has made this snotty remark to others questions as well in this thread. Read the rules the way you wrote them... they are not as clear as you seem to think Jairus. This below was NOT an answer to my simple question.

Posted Today, 11:13 AM
Read the rules Barney.
"No maintenance between races and if the car breaks or fails, it gets sent home". And, if the chassis hits the track on the second race it is done!

Can we all calm down and just use >.063 clearance at the beginning ? Everything will be OK.

Barn,
Nobody is forced to run this race. It is entirely voluntary.

And it's suppose to be fun and run in the spirit of the Thingy. This is something that me and my friends have managed to do since 2005 with no discussion ever required regarding the rules. In fact, I don't remember even once when ANYONE questioned the rules. We just got our soldering irons out and built something.

In my opinion all this discussion and parsing of the rules is making it... not fun. In my opinion Its the same thing that brought down and destroyed D3 leaving John Cukras to take the reigns of the retro series and run it with common sense and logic instead of lawyer derived 14 page rule-set covering every possible outcome.
We have never needed those rules in the past and we don't need them now.

If it continues to be not fun then I will pull the plug.

Please, let us use our common sense and all entries will be run if they follow the basic rules as they are set and not worry about what might be. Lets please have FUN!

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a pair of front wheels similar to those I used on Blacklight. 3/4 dia or so with a 1/16 axle. But I need them to be very slim in cross-section. I've purchased a few pairs but have not found a pair that are as slim as the Kai fronts shown below. If anyone has a suitable pair to spare I'll gladly recompense them through PayPal.

Many thanks
Al.

PS. I'd like to reserve #4, but whether or not I use it depends upon how nice the body turns out.
