...headed across the pond to Al "Blacklight" Bond and destined for his Balls Out Proxy car. A 16D can drilled for can mounting and with ball bearing installed, a Mura "B" motor end bell (courtesy Jairus Watson) and a #27awg "hemi" wind on a Bugenis stack and com with a drill blank shaft installed. A very strong runner:

Thanks Jairus. The B end bell you sent was in excellent condition in all the places where it counts. That made for a real solid runner here, as the end bell is so critical in these old motors. You did Al a real solid there!

Ooooo! Now I'm excited. And the colour is perfect for the paint job I have in mind...How about that. EDIT: As is the Jet flag.

Thanks John, thanks Jairus.

I may have my wheels sorted also.

Lets build, build, build.

ATB
Al.

PS, This may be a daft question, but in the back of John's photo (top left) is a Rehco (I think) U-bracket. When this bracket is soldered on top of .062 piano wire what is the approximate wheel/tyre diameter needed to comply with the .062 clearance rule...Anybody?

Thanks Jairus, I'd worked it out about that. Trouble is I do some calcs in imperial and some calcs in metric. I belong to the switchover generation...our school rulers had imperial on one side and metric on the other. I now work mostly in metric, but for slots its easier to work in imperial as everything is supplied in imperial sizes...and it gets me all confused hehe.

Cheers again.

You got it! Agent 99 it is.

Did some work on my car Friday. Ready for track testing again on Tuesday.

Brass gussets added to the front axle to strengthen it from wall hits and lower the nose weight. Going to try some laps with and with-out the removable weight. Also cut the can to get some airflow going, swapped the arm for a #26 single and dropped the gear ratio to 4:1.
No name for this machine yet.

Guys,

I could have done this by PM to John, but thought it'd be nice to announce publicly that my motor arrived today, and what a tidy little thing it is too. I can't seem to put it down, and keep having to give the arm a little turn just to feel it resisting. Nice.

Thanks so much John H.

Al
