Fingers are crossed! :)

Is modifying the car after the pics have been posted and approved, legal ?
For example, if Brian track tests tonight and decides to add bracing to the front axle, is that OK ?

Yes,
I expect all builders to test and modify their cars. We don't have to post the "offical" pics until two or three weeks before the race.

WOW! this baby is smooth and fast! motor got warm just like it should have but not HOT at all, you can tell it's a lightweight car by driving it. it was tuff to get any corner speed as I never set the guide deep enough for our track. will add the couple peices of lead on the pan and re-try and set the guide a little deep to see IF it will bring up the corner speed at all.
All & All first time on the track was a complete success!

I'm not adding any bracing as Ive done the ultimate taboo of painting the chassis!!

Excellent Brian :) Painting the chassis is one way to stop you from continuing to tweak things, but if I may suggest something. These type cars are by nature very rear-end heavy. The chassis is light and the motor is heavy. If you could devise a way to put a small additional amount of weight right on the guide instead of the pan such as an old style collar, it might help the cornering stuff.

Hi John
I do have that big ole honking piece of brass on the front of the flag and another piece of round brass mounted behind it on the guide holder.

I honestly feel with not having the guide set 'deep' enough on my track lead to the slower cornering speeds.

Pink Mura's with a tickled arm in them excites me to no end! :) (thank you)

Finished this chassis up for the proxy. Contains 98% same bits as my entry, but with a couple of improvements I learned over the weeks testing my mine at the track. Just waiting for the body to get here for mounting and paint...

Very nice!! :shok: :clapping:

Where to get this parts in Germany? :wacko2:

Would like to push the american economy, too, by buying the stuff in the USA. Is there any shopping list that could help someone fixed on thinking in "metric stuff"? :pardon: :help:

Hey Jens!
I am sure anyone here can help you if you can be a little more specific. You looking for a complete car or just a frame?
You see, for 16 pages I have been trying to provide sources for any and all parts other than motors and wheels.
But if you want a frame like the one above, I would be glad to build you one and Ray can make you a body. :)
As for a motor.... I believe John Havlicek has been very busy filling orders for other entries.

I'm just trying to understand, "Where's the Glory?" if someone else builds every aspect of the car for you and it's entered in a proxy race and you don't even get to race it either?

Beats me.

I really would love to solder "my own chassis" and to paint my special body, but don't get the parts like (ReHco ?) brackets, (ball) bearings and so on. Asked some of the addresses, you gave us, Jairus, but they would need "concrete" orders, I learned. And that's my problem, what kind/No. and so on has to be bought? :dash2: I asked for a "kit" and would be able to by some things I really don't know. But to buy "the whole shop" would be to much to explain to my wife and children!! :laugh2:

So I would like to have a shopping list, to learn what to buy: Take one of these, three of that and 1 oz. (?) of what ever!! :clapping:

Thanks from Germany and the "Nordseeinsel Juist"!!!

Well not really buddy. I have done some already and have some special-cool ones I need to get to for Barney, but I'm really just trying to clear my bench of assorted motors projects not related to this proxy to do a BOATLOAD of various arms for Bill Bugenis. Other than the motors I've committed to do already (for sure Barney's), I really can't do any more for a while at least. Then again, this proxy is still far off.

Usually, I totally agree with this comment, however...in the last couple of years I have suffered and endured the most difficult times of my life! My wife passed away almost two years ago and in the grieving period after I have been extremely sick myself. I got a severe case of bronchitis including a chest infection, shingles and just shy of two weeks ago I had surgery to remove my gall bladder. I feel lucky to be alive! When my wife was diagnosed with colon cancer she was at stage 4 and the writing was on the wall. She went to Stanford for a second opinion and they told her to get her stuff in order because she didn't have two years left. We moved from my Industry in California to our mutual home town of San Antonio Texas, where there is none, so that she could undergo chemo with her family around her. I sacrifaced my career to take care of her and after eight years of battling, the tough and strong woman lost the war.

With that said, I decided to finally return home to the brotherhood of fellow thingie and slot car lovers and I have missed everyone here. I am sad to see the departure of some old friends here as well. Even though I have yet to form the metal and solder it together, or paint my own bodies, I have always done the "planning" neccessary as well as the parts acquition to build my thingies. Because I have never yet actually built the chassis, I have refrained from ever entering any Proxy so far, as I did not yet feel the acomplishment of being the "builder". Even though as well I acquired all of the parts to build my motor programs, the final assembly and break-ins were done by either Ron Hershman or John Havlicek.

Now, as I said I feel fortunate to be recovering in most every way now and I want to celebrate that by entering this Proxy if I can make it. That decision was just considered and decided upon two nights ago, but then I got cold feet after reading your very true comment. Of course not everyone does build their own cars but the "spirit" of competiton seems to be everywhere here and while thinking about this all night long, I have decided to press forward even though I currently have NOTHING in parts at this moment. I throw my sweaty hat into the ring and I will endeavor to try to come to the starting line ready, but we shall see...

Thanks for listening to an old fool who still and will always love slot cars, thingies especially and life itself.

Nothing derogatory meant Max, as I wrote just "trying to understand" and my understanding is better thanks to your statements. It does take all kinds to make up the world's population and the same goes for the slot/Thingie community. More power to you and glad to see you posting again and hopefully your problems are behind you and you can enjoy life a little more now.
Best regards,
