Mike,

Thank you for your comments. I have always had great admiration and respect for you, that is why it affected my decision so. In the future I will build chassis and motors (even though I did do a lot of the precompletion work of those myself).

This entire forum and especially the gents here in thingies are an incredible bunch to hang with, and I love being back. Whether I can get a car together with a competent motor remains to be seen!

Thanks again...

Hey Maximo, welcome back. If you need a motor, I'll hook you up with a freebie if you can get the setup (can / endbell). You just might have to wait a couple of weeks or so, as I'm not doing any more motor work for a while.

Jairus and Gentlemen Racers of the Proxy,

I formally withdraw my potential entry in the "Balls Out California Proxy" due to personal issues and situations that I still need to resolve.

Best regards and good luck to everyone as I will be observing from afar.

Jairus,

I am trying to resolve a number of different issues that arose right after I entered and therefore withdraw. If I am able to, I still want to participate and may enter at the final hour but that is my destiny right now.

The entry will be a different "name" than before. I remain committed as before.

Wow! The first of the Balls Out Proxy racers breaks ground! And it is a beauty!

Max, Brian and I have both built and tested cars. That body is from Ray and measures at 3".

Great to see another proxy car being tested David. Looks GREAT!!!!
And I totally understand what you mean. These beasts take so much attention...

Thanks, all, it is a real work in progress. I am not sure it can survive a heat, let alone a race. The chassis and motor combos change every so often, the current motor is a Mura green can with a Camen arm from the deep corners of my old arm box. I tried a different motor I built and one that John Havlicek had sent me a long time ago, but I felt they were pretty much overkill. If the car has to hit the wall, I'd prefer it does so softly!! And yes,it is a 3" car.

Ray, what is the name/number of that body again? I may need some spares!!!

Jairus, you are right on the money. Attention. Between building and rebuilding and trying to drive the damn thing it takes more time that 5 flexis!!! But there is a lot of gratification there too. It's not near as pretty or refined as as some I've seen on the other threads, though. It's pretty much something I might have built 40 years ago only with better tools today. And the motor part is a lot of fun. So thanks for coming up with this.

John, the first suggestions I got from bystanders were like "hey, dude, that would make a hella drag car!". Go figure. It handles better now!

Hey guys...

Slow progress here at The Old Forge, as work has been suprisingly hectic these last few weeks, but here are a few more spy shots.

I've had to hold off from a first pull of the body because of clearance issues, so when the chassis is complete I'll be able to work out if I need to rake the body slightly. Pics of the chassis are prior to any soldering being done. Hopefully I will start that tomorrow. Should have plenty of time on my hands now, so hoping to get a move on. All comments welcome.

I have to admit without coming up with one of my own suggestions yet, but 02R's "Excalibur" just sounds right!
