As far as parts YES, if chassis width remains 3".

Oh! Oh! I ordered these bodies from One27Ray just for the proxy, and they're between 3.125" and 3.25" wide. I'm guessing a lot of other people will have the same bodies. Are we meant to be using bodies from somewhere else that are only 3" wide, or did you leave some digits off after the "3"?

So mounting the body forward helps? I always thought the idea was to mount it back. It explains why it deslots so easily powering on coming out of slow speed corners.

Chassis and rear track 3" regardless of body. That is to keep the guys from sticking the wheels out 3.5" to keep the car from tipping.

Which post has the track braid depths?

Dumb question - Are modern guide nuts acceptable?

Thanks.

All chassis parts 3" wide including rear track. I would have made 3" the rule period! But... the availability of bodies made that rule nuts so it is now only chassis.
(Lately Scott Bader has opened up the Electric Dreams molds again. So.. the 3" Choti "Ultra" body is now available once again. Whoohoo! Thanks Scott.)

However mounting a 3.25 body on a 3.0 chassis is simple and very little problem.
However if one must tilt the front wheels out (camber) to clear on a couple of the deep dish bodies then we will not restrict that entry from running as long as the track (contact point) on the front wheels remains 3".

Well... I would have liked him to build the car with all vintage parts. But... some people have problems wrapping their heads around anything but what "Retro" has now become.
At any rate, I don't see the motor bracket as providing any advantage that can't be provided by a vintage bracket with appropriate bracing.
Do you Ray?

The motor bracket is a cast bronze unit pirated from a 1/32 project that stalled , I think it came from professor motor .
You guys can retract my entry as it seems to be causing controversy ,and I prefer not to upset the applecart .

Don't do that, Mark, I like your car and my question about whether the pan management was legal was answered to my complete satisfaction, and I'm not the only one.

I look forward to seeing it race. :)

Mark, it's the bust balls (out) proxy, those ain't apples in that cart. :shok:
BTW: That bracket is sweet, I saw them over at Prof. Motors site but it didn't say the width.
Not to be too personal but IMO you should stick it out.

Stay tuned :popcorm1:.....More controversy to come. :D

If I do it will be with a different chassis that better fits the chassis criteria set forth in the orignal post . The mistake was mine
and I let my competitive bias cloud my vision ( or maybe it was the solder smoke ) . Anyway I have since joined Acceleration
Anonomus to get treatment . They don't hold out much hope as I seem to have had a lifelong issue that is deeply ingrained
and may take many more shock treatments than my poor insurance will cover.

Jairus,
Will this new, press-on, 48 P straight pinion from JK, be allowed in this event.

From what i understand Gears, Donuts and Motor Brackets can be non period, and the chassis and wheel base are 3" max at the rear, but the wider Noda Choti bodies are allowed.
The rest needs to be period* (style) Inline.
*Ofcourse no need to source 50 year old brass or steel rods ^_^

As long as the pinion is for inline it should be no problem.

Yes Mike, that gear is same as what was available in 1970. I just don't want angled gears unless they are vintage bevel BZ or other. The whole idea is to only build with what was available on a hobby shop wall in 1970.

As long as the gears, donuts and motor brackets are same as what was available back in the day.
Well.... natural rubber is a concession of course. But angled pinions were not available so stay with straight cut or vintage beveled gears please.

I would rather see everyone use the RehCo re-pop motor bracket than a BWA milled unit. Not only is it Korrect, but it's also cheaper through Chicago Land or NCP, than a BWA bracket is through Professor Motor.
However, the bracket itself is not an advantage in my eyes and if someone uses one (Jaak, Mark) they will not be restricted from racing. (What part of "build it light do you guys not understand?)
I might give a snort of derision in their direction... but they can race.

P.S. I like your "Demon Killer" Ray. You definitely got the vintage vibe going!!! People should pay more attention to your car.
