Were Parma Pink Crowns available in 1970 ? I need to know.....
Jairus, please remember not everybody actually knows what was , or wasn't, available in 1970.

and if we can use them,,,,,how about DYING THEM BLACK so they look period correct,,
cause i just dont think the Old COX SPURS will hold up to the torque/power that these
motors are gonna be puttin out,and i believe the PINK GEARS will,,,

I was only 6 yrs. young, that's why mine got the Parma Pink. ;)

Thinking now it's probably best left to keep it here in Ohio.

No. There weren't very many applications for crown gears in 1970 either. I don't believe womps had been invented yet, but I seem to recall early womps used gray Cox crowns. :)

Early Womps were based on Riggen 1/32 scale pan chassis. They all used Riggen crowns which had a bad habit of splitting.

Riggen womps weren't in New England. The early womps I saw were Parmas & eventually Champions. If the Riggen crowns were junk, they must have used the same plastic as they did for their 64 pitch spur gears. I know those things were junk, they used to split while sitting in my slot box. :laugh2:

The question is, are gears considered "consumables" ? I say yes. But I can only guess if the pinks are legal or not at this point.
Guess I'll just wait and see...... :shok:

Yes, pink Parma gears are allowed if dyed black. Or, as was the case with Brian's car, incorporated into the theme by dyeing and painting the other parts to match.
Okay?

I got a lot of pressures on me right now. Yeah, this should have been out before now but it's not -- "so deal with it".
Printing t-shirts in about two weeks time so.... to that end. I need shirt sizes sent to me for all entrants please.
(I have mailing addresses and shirt sizes for those who took part in the Dynamic Challenge. So those entrants do not need to respond.)
Use my email address below please since we don't want to clutter up this thread with nonsense.
If anyone wants a poster for their own... I will send you a pdf copy, once it has been approved by the two track directors.

The only huge UPDATE is the cost of the race! I tried to keep it more reasonable but we have been asked to pay for track time at the two tracks involved. This didn't happen during the Dynamic Challenge, otherwise the cost would have been in the stratosphere for that race. But it is what it is.
At any rate, I crunched the numbers and the total ensures that both track owners are happy, all cars can be returned to the proper owners and that each entrant receives a t-shirt and box sticker for their efforts.

Happy Sunday!

(I am going to the track to test on Tuesday b.t.w.)

Hmmm--bolt in a motor--change the tires and body--would this chassis qualify for a "Choti" thing then? No movements--body pins are solid.

While I consider the $40.00 plus shipping and handling entry fee to be reasonable and customary I do find that 'we' pay for track time' un-Usual.

What happened to Karn evil 9 of the show coming to 'your' track.

Kind'a ...um...like.... an un-welcome feeling. The two tracks agree to host 'then' say 'pay to play' and tip the cabbie. :big_boss:

Where I come from it's closly related to .... 'that deal is Fugazy' :hi:

Hey Jairus,

I love that champion chassis, whatever it might have run like. I particularly like the way in which the motor forms an integral part of the chassis structure, rather than being something that is bolted into a complete chassis. Also like the way the rails/wheel mount members are pivoted around the axle on the brass spacers. A neat iso-design and as you know, I'm a fan of the iso chassis.

The fronts on that second chassis seem to be almost as pointless as those diiddy pin wheels you see on some of the modern chassis. If you are going to run a tripod/sled thing why not totally remove the wheels, I guess if they are sprung in some way there might be some justification in having them, but as you say, they are banned as far as this proxy is concerned.

As you can see, my chassis has a nice solid fronts that will hopefully be in contact with the track and will support the guide.. Two shots of where I'm at as of this evening. (Hope all looks legal...At least its square now hehe).

No, it's not the same! Do I need to spell it out for you?
What part of vintage do you guys not understand?
This is suppose to be fun and based on what was known in 1970 and everyone keeps pushing the barrier to D3.
If all the entries end up looking like Tim's car then I quit! Do you want that?
Hell, my car is pushing the boundary, but at least I have a drop front axle, vintage RehCo motor bracket and all brass/mass behind the front axle. Tim's car has none of these things.

So Barney, are you saying that you want to lodge a formal "challenge" against Al's car then?

Personally, with out seeing 2/3 of the other entries... I would consider waiting a bit. But that's just me.
