Great looking car posted by "The Chief".

I love the art deco style (IMO) body.

Well, I finally got the paint on and have submitted photos in the other thread.

Jaak, you asked what I've named it...Well Ray suggested Excalibur which I quite liked. Though I thought ' X-calibre ' might be a nice play on words. What do you think? Always open to suggestions.

Here it is again.

For anyone who is interested in getting hold of a body or two I am hoping to produce a plaster mould in the near future, which should give a superior finish to the wood mould. Then I'll be able to do a short production run. Any one who is still keen if you could please PM me then I'll know how much PTEG to order, and have a record of who wants what.

Al.

EDIT: Thanks Mike. You posted as I was typing. And yes, it was supposed to look a bit Deco.

Well guess I won't have to thrash painting 2 bodies this weekend since there is now no way they will be done and back to FL before Friday. That is of course if they even show up in the mail today.

Looks Great Al,

I do like the Excalibur but then again X-Calibre has a Spanish ring to it, kinda like a reference to Hispano Suiza.

Al,

I can just picture the driver climbing out of the cockpit, wearing a top hat and tails, twirling a walking stick. :)

I'm still in the hunt even after a few mishaps like losing the only decent 7 tooth steel pinion I had...and almost drinking out of the mug that I am using to dye the crown gear. :help:

Warm up the dye Bob, it works faster. When I boil the dye it only takes 3 to 5 minutes.

Jairus' formula works well. I tried just the liquid dye and had terrible results. I asked Jairus for his magic formula and he said to add a cup of water with a touch of salt and some vinegar. My gears liked the apple cider vinegar we had in the pantry. As he stated 3-5 minutes at a slow boil and then rinse in cold water while scrubbing with a toothbrush.

Jauris, just finished testing at Mike Swiss's king. You better have some serious spray glue, otherwise carnage is ruling!!The downforce on these cars in minimal at best. Just trying to help.

A little late in the game to be testing, ain't it ???

I sincerely hope you guys are not changing the cars after they have been seen and approved.....because that would be cheating.

Adding weight is not changing, just tuning.Basic car remains the same. Havent even seen the "final entries!"

I agree with that, John A.
As far as "final entries" , the pics that are on the Cars of the California Choti Proxy
ARE the "final entries".....

If there is confusion, maybe Jairus can help here. I am NOT the "Choti Police".
But I sure don't think it's fair to be changing cars in a major way after everyone has had a chance to submit challenges.

Basic tuning is legal while testing.

Gentlemen and all those who got their cars in on time I owe you all a huge apology. We have 5 entries still yet to be posted and therefore I pushed back the deadline. Most everything will be posted sometime Saturday, tomorrow, by this time. Some however will still be minus bodies as those are at the painters. Pics of those are forthcoming so please be patient and please forgive me for being "LAX" with the rules.
We still have 15 days till the race anyway so lets take it easy, encourage the guys working to get ready instead of berating them for being late please. It's suppose to be fun so let us please keep things in perspective.

Thank you all for taking part in the discussion, the building, posting and helping each other find parts to get ready for this race. It looks be one of the best and most exciting two races thus far in the Thingie circus.

Oh, I am going to get Randy (are you listening Randy?) to take a pic of all the cars on the track just like the "Thing about Thingies" article. Not sure what to do with it yet.... maybe make a large scale color photo print available or something.

Respectfully submitted,
