When they started the project last year it was between Tony P., Gilbert, and Steube for the sculpture. Once they discovered Tony wasn't back building yet and Lee was dealin' in sheet steel, Mike got the nod.

Pic (from standing on a pit table) of the finished flat track with the rest of the tall, clear "wallage" installed. Also note the three big removable plugs to change the power from one side of the rotating section to the other. Also with the track so tall, the most practical place for the race director monitor is below the track. During a race the keyboard is on a stool to the left of the monitor allowing the race director to also marshall in Fiedler Corner's.

The temporary drivers screen was originally on the floor underneath the blue lane driver's panel. While guys seemed amused that I called it "The Ankle Monitor", I still went ahead and mounted a flat panel up high at the base of the observation loft/skybox. $229 for a new 22-incher from Tiger Direct in Naperville seemed like a pretty good deal.

View from the black lane control panel of Ray's hardbody Mopar getting ready to rumble through the esses. The clear walls, while expensive and a lot of work, did prevent me from having to do a raised driver's panel stand.

A car of Ray Price's. I guess the driver bailed until he gets some ProTracks on the back

...now you don't. Both pieces of pegboard have casters mounted on the bottom. The panels slide between two "L" channels( the cut-off pieces from the soft walls) mounted on top to the floor joists of the skybox.

Oh, and Ray is dialed in with his D-3 Can-Am car. I'd apparently better get building and/or buying.

Noose, that is the "Blue Moon" from the Blue Moon Brewing Company, Belgian White? One of my favorites is Sleeman's Cream Ale.But they don't have Blue Moon!
Be good,

Bring some of that Sleeman's to Chicago... LOL. Maybe Swiss in the meantime can find a source for Sleeman's in the area.

A lot different than the Nuvolari at Elmsford, I bet. I think that's where I saw you last in 1989, or so maybe at the Elmsford WinterNats.
You should come by and check out our next race at Zeppelin Hobbies in NJ. Better yet, come to the Sano.

I have never seen Sleeman's in Chicago. Doesn't mean no one has it, just means it's hiding.Bring some of that Sleeman's to Chicago...
The microbrews at Walter Payton's Roundhouse in nearby Aurora were tasty the other night...

Not as hard as I hoped (or Jim Honeycutt predicted).Mike, good luck with your race; I've NEVER seen a decreasing radius turn followed by a series of decreasing radius esses! How would that drive?
You're already "slowed down" from all the previous turns and you just sort of accelerate smoothly through the esses. Cars with moderate down force like a GT1 (two-tiered spoiler) go through there so fast, it's scary. Guys come off in the esses but no more so than in the other corners, maybe a bit less.
But seeing about three or four cars shaking through there at once is cool, especially F1 cars.
I guess because of the overall tightness of the design of the whole track, I've never seen guys bang bodies so much and still stay in.

Hey dood, I won't be rolling into Chicago until around 5 pm - 6 pm on Friday. I'll want to get to the track ASAP to practice and won't want to take time to go out to eat anywhere.
Are there any GOOD pizza places around, like Pizza Hut or something?
