Gateway Slot Racing Association was happy to host two rounds.

The first race held was at Steve's track:

Here are the cars lined up in their finishing order for the first round:

The next round was at Jamie Mclheny's track, Full Throttle Raceway:

I will be working on the video as time permits. Hopefully a week or two. The intention is not to bore you with a static camera placement and watch a full race. It will be short, about 2 minutes. Any chance I could get the full res logo for this series found in the first post?

Thanks for letting us campaign your cars. Good luck to all.

Lucky 13 Garage report:
All cars were worked on at random. All cars received oil at the obvious chassis joints, axles & motor shafts. Body pins were tightened & braid cleaned & juiced then tech check and track test after all repairs (if needed.) The following machines needed additional attention:

Jim Struckel: Repair body, tighten loose motor.
Al Bond: Straighten chassis twist, tighten loose motor.
Tony Davey: Adjust guide nut to restore 'spring back' movement, tighten loose motor, secure interior with new tape, raise left front of pan because of dragging condition, oiled pan hinges to try to restore good up & down movement but, lack of endplay prevents them from working correctly.
Andy Brown-Searle: Secure loose interior, tighten loose motor, change crown gear and break in.
Ray Fellows: repair body, tighten loose motor, re-solder front wheel keepers, install new rear tires (to pass tech) from 'series bag'. (Ray's spare tires are very old & dry.)
Ben Kernan: Both pans dragging at rear -re-solder broken mounts, tighten loose motor.
Manta Ray: re-solder front wheel keeper, rear of chassis dragging-install new rear tires.
Lowrider: repair body, Straighten & repair/re-solder various chassis joints, install new rear tires (to pass tech.)
Jaak BK: Adjust guide nut to restore 'spring back' movement, Loose motor-replace bad motor screws with threaded type.
John Dilworth: repair body, re-solder broken front axle support bar (which was dragging the track.)
Gary Vogeler: Gary is doing his own repairs.
Mike Zimmerman: New body, New rear tires (to pass tech.)

Thanks, Z.  Greatly appreciated.

My fingers are crossed for Round 9 at Washington Slotcar Club on the weekend of 7th September.

Incidentally, Al Bond and I intend conducting an experiment with his car.  For Round 9 we'll be fitting a Choti body on to his chassis in order to determine how much his current stiff and inflexible, although beautiful, body is hampering his car's performance.  John Dilworth was offered the same opportunity but gracefully declined.  What Al decides to do after this race remains to be seen.

Regards,

Steve-a-roonie Kempson

Al's and John's cars are now better handling than they were. New bodies could help even more.

I assume that Greg has Adwords or something similar turned on to help fund the server costs, etc. of running this ship.
That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Cars arrived safely yesterday.....  Things are looking good for a Saturday evening race.

Painted and mounted a brand new body for Al Bond... tried to do something similar to the original.....Hope he likes it.

Should have a race update sometime Sunday...

OK... here is a brief rundown of the cars..... Some is my opinion running them on the red lane, and some is what I witnessed other drivers doing...

1... Lowrider..... was really good right out of the box....Had really good speed and handled the esses as good as any..... very quick off the corners.

2.... WSC..... Car was set up for this track, so it handled extremely well.... one of the few cars I felt like I could really push hard..... Pre race motor change helped a bunch as the old one was very flat....

3....Rod Morrison....Not the fastest car in the field, but VERY easy to drive....Most guys had an easy time with this one...I was able to push this on hard also.

4....JAAK BK....Car seemed a bit heavy still, but was easy/fun to drive.... this was my son Aaron's favorite car to drive.... Changes that have been made to this car seem to have it going in the right direction.

5....Team SSME..... Car was quite loose, but it handled the esses very well... I think having the body slammed down helps this one.... good speed.

6....Tony Davey.... I don't know how this car didn't finish higher.... I drove this car hard as any of them....I don't think it ran as well in the lower lanes. Had really good speed and handled like a dream... this was one of my favorites to drive.

7....Pablo.... Very fast and very smooth... just missed a bit on the handling. This car didn't like the high lanes. Was loose if I remember correctly.

8...Weldon/Walker....VERY good car.... a little loose but not too hard to drive. This may be the car that was affected the most by crashes.... two bad lanes hurt the finish. This car will be fine the rest of the way.

9...Andy Brown-Searle....Another good car, just didn't handle the esses like some of the others....Handled well on the rest of the track. Had good speed.

10....Ben Kernan....Good car, just lacking a bit of speed. Not a bad motor, maybe different gearing would of helped on this track.... Not missing my much.

11....Mike Zimmerman...Real good car.... speed is there. Struggled in the gutter lanes.... car was tight and that hurts lap totals on this track... maybe different tires would have helped, but how is one to know?

12....Ray Fellows....Car was fast, and handled better than I thought when I first looked at it..... Problem here was it was inconsistent....You would feel like you could start to push it a bit and run a couple good laps and it would randomly fall out....different spots on the track which made it hard to figure out.

13....REM....The fact that I stepped on the car before the race didn't help this one...(LOL... just kidding) Plenty of speed... tightness killed this one. Never really was able to push as hard as needed.....

14.....Al Bond....From what I hear about previous races, the body change really helped this car....Was pretty easy to drive, just lacking some speed.... Maybe a motor or gearing change????

15...Team Evil Minnows.... Evil loose....More than enough speed, maybe too much for this track....I think just the wrong tires for this track.

16....Team Lo Bucks..... another car fighting loose....Didn't do well in the gutter lanes. Plenty of speed, but a handful in the donut and esses.....Not as far off as it may seem on this track.

17...Last Minute Men....This was another that didn't like the gutters.... car felt "tippy" never really able to push it.... Some guys struggled with keeping this car in....

18....John Dilworth...Might have been the fastest car there.... would make a good drag car. SOOO quick off the corners. Had to back off the turns early to keep it in, and this killed the lap times..

19...Gary Vogeler....Car was fast, but may be too heavy.....I think the heaviness hurt the breaking which made it hard to drive..... Random de-slots made it hard to figure out.

20...Jim Struckel....A handful all way around.... I'm thinking the body is hurting this car.... needs to be slammed down, or changed. Feels like it has a high center of gravity which made it hard to get around the track consistantly.

P6: 45 + 7 = 52 points - Ben Kernan (+1)
P7: 46 + 5 = 51 points - Team Lo Bucks (-1)

Following a quick consultation with the Facebook gang, I've elected to allow positions 11 through to 20 in the overall standings to have the option of changing motor and rear tyres if they so wish. Negotiations with Mr Jairus Watson or Mr Steve Ploskunak can be made either publicly or privately to undertake this work.

Al Bond raced with a Choti body in this round, beautifully painted by Steve P., and this seems to have helped his cause a bit. Jim Struckel now has a new body, courtesy of Steve as well. John Dilworth can take whatever body option - modification or replacement - he wishes. John is willing to try having the upper deck removed from his body for the next race. It'll be interesting to see how this works out.

Rounds 10 and 11 will be held by Jairus in Oregon.
