Thanks Rick!
Better sweep the other stuff off the bench Duf, including your tendency to expound on the supererogatory.

Because there is NOT much time left...  :shok:

Um yah, and in a rare twist of things, for a change it's not MEE doing the supererogarizigating.

My part was the paint, & I waited 'til the body guy got back from safari (seems it's very difficult to extract tusks from an elephant; except in Alabama, where the Tuscaloosa).

Then, a teammate, in charge of setup, tragically descended into Sympathetic Parasthesia with me (JetBlue goes there, but you DON'T want to)...

And the upshot (missing the elephant once more) is, I've just got the bits on the bench tonight & they'll turn around tomorrow.

Hope you have a plan. :victory:

Times like these, I'm always reminded of a spot 'midway-thru an I SPY episode, deep into the thickened plot there's a cut to The Dungeon, where hang Robinson and Scott by their wrists; several beats silence, & then Cosby says:

"....I have a plan."

Cut to commercial.

See my post #152: sometimes The Plan is where your feet take you in the fire fight. It will be what.

He makes it up as he goes.

We all make it up as we go, it's called Real Life. Anybody says different is selling something. Back to sanding tyres.

WELCOME Gary!  Looks solid (but not too heavy), well made and a good competitor.

Nice choice of body by the way. "Ace, Deuce, Avenger" is the name?

All righty then, Team Evil Minnow's FIREFISH is off in the post, and now we'll see the real power of Yankee bucks in action...

Here're the Proof Shots:

Firefish 11.JPG

UnderFishy 04.jpg

Chassis by Wrick Moore (see post #122), prep by Marty Stanley, paint by Duf (see post #53) Inspiration by Riki Lindhome (see "Garfunkel and Oates")

Firefish is jammed onto a Truescale "Whisper" shell.

I hope the quote's source ain't too obscure for this crowd. Seemed appropriate.

The odd Fish & Chip shop still uses newspaper, although for health & safety reasons most just use plain off white paper to wrap up the scrumpcious fare that is cod & chips ..   "pass the wally"

Round 1 will be held at North London on Wednesday evening.

I currently have 12 cars here ready to race with Howmet's car a just few miles away across town. There are still quite a few on the way to me, possibly delayed by the postal services' Easter break. We still have Tuesday and Wednesday's deliveries to come so fingers are crossed for all those last minute people.

Kathryn will be doing live updates to the Thingies section on Facebook via her Blackberry. Photos and full results will be posted here a day or two later. Any YouTube footage will be uploaded as soon as time permits. It's not a quick job.
Thingies on Facebook Lucky 13 series on Facebook

Series points will be awarded in the same way as those in the Dynamic Challenge and the SunChaser series were before that. The winner will receive full points (25 for this series) with each place down from there getting one less in turn. These series points should be regarded as mainly for fun, it's not modern warfare.

My proposal for this series is that the bottom three cars still running will be eligible for mechanical work, upgrades and alterations (within the rules) to help their performance, and any car that doesn't complete the race will automatically be repaired. In the interests of speeding the series along this work will be undertaken by the hosts wherever possible. This work will only be done with the car's owner's agreement.

My reasoning behind this is that even with a single point difference between race placings the form of the cars will soon become apparent and the points gaps will inevitably widen. For eaxple, there is a full 30g weight spread already between the lightest cars and the heaviest in my possession. (Pablo's at 114g and Tony Davey's at 147g with a couple of even heavier cars still to come.) It's obvious that not all these Thingie enthusiasts are Retro racers and are not equipped with the knowledge that regular racing of this kind brings. They shouldn't, in my view, be punished for this and help will be given with the owner's consent where it's required. I recognize that excellence should be rewarded, and it will be, but my heart has gone out to those racers in past series whose cars are regularly at the back of the field, race after race, through simply making an unwise choice when building their car. I hope that everyone involved in the series can see and will accept the wisdom of this.

Good luck to all the entrants.

Sounds great to me !

You have my permission to work on my car :D

Don't be afraid to swap and test the spare motor with the 7 T pinion if you feel it is needed for short tracks.
