My Monogram based Kurtis-Ferrari. Cady decals, Fujimi driver kit. Body mounded on scratch built brass chassis powered by Parma 16D
In 1955, Nino Farina, World Champion for Alfa Romero in 1950, wanted to drive the Indianapolis 500 in a Ferrari before he retired. So with Bardahl as a major sponsor, and the cooperation of Ferrari, a Kurtis 500D chassis powered by a modified 121 LM 4412cc, 6 cyl engine was put together 1955, and shipped to America May 1956. Unfortunately the machine lacked speed and its qualification attempt was rainded out.
Car is raced in Pelican Park's Monza class: 1938-1959 Gran Prix, Indy, and F-1 cars

Here is what I've got so far..........Remember what Mike Swiss posted about guide lead length....for the flag to be under the body..........it should be around .250. Also Mike mentioned to me, that the first set of little slots on the left and right of the C/R tongue is a good place to line up to the edge of your chassis nose piece to give you rotational clearance for the guide flag.
This chassis is a "W" rail design. .062 rails, .062 front and rear pcs, 3/16" wide .062 bracing to fill in the angle of the bracket to the chassis. The 30 T gear fits fine with the .062 on the bottom.
Still have to do a little bracing etc.

Ray you did the same thing I did by adding brass strip stock to the sides of the bracket so
that the rails can be kept flat and level to the bottom of the body. Nice work as usual.

Ray,
Thanks for posting pics of your chassis and reminding builders some of the things they have to look for, such as the super-short guide lead.
As mentioned, if you line up the notches of the guide at the end of your nose pc. or a skosh inboard, you'll have plenty of room for any popular guide flag to rotate, including, of course, the required Parma Blade.

Here's some pics of Dave's Z-railer chassis.
Note, it was built before the rules were determined, so it might not quite be legal width.

Bob,
Great looking car.
The paint and number fonts/meatballs are just so cool looking.
I'm almost afraid to think what someone like Noose or Jairus could do painting one of these up.

1.375 sounds like a plan................but I'm going to sand off the "Pro Track" on the tires....lol
Small squirt of lighter fluid and a scotchbrite and it comes right off.

I'm going with the "Wynns Friction Proofing Special", as I slot raced with the Wynn's owners son. He had a 90 foot routed track in his basement in Deerfield Il. His name was Jay Brown!

Any word on when the kits will be ready to buy?
Dave confirmed he'll be bringing in interior/drivers on Saturday.

Mike,
Will the body kits have driver and exhaust header?
Posted 03 February 2013 - 03:57 PM
Mike,
Will the body kits have driver and exhaust header?
Yes.
Also wheel inserts with knock-offs.
The interior fits real nice.
The parts did come in on Saturday and complete kits will be available to ship on Monday.
Complete kit is now $59.95.
For the Proxy race the resin driver/ interior will be required, but not the exhaust and wheel insets
