The Jet Flag was dyed in many different colors depending on which outfit marketed them, but they all came from the same place, SimCo, then Associated in Paramount.

Bob, no trailing guides available at this time. I will disagree with some and say that these are extremely hard to find. Bordering on rare. Best bet to is to find one on a car on ebay or some such thing.
Steve, glad it got there.
Now, did I remember hearing you where going to do wheels and tires next?
Let me know when you want to start on these with another couple thousand after that

Hey, I like vintage guides too and picked up this batch today. Anything in there you need Steve?
Clockwise I've id'd the Russkit and the Dynamic guides. But the other three are up to the experts.

First photo, bottom right one with second pin at back looks like Cox for Ackerman steering.

I thought as much and was the reason originally for bidding. I WANT that guide for the extra pivot point!

First photo, bottom left is a Gardena Rubber, part number GSP-1-GD.
Upper left and upper center are of course the Russkit and Dynamic guides repectively.
Upper right is a mystery...?? Anybody out there know who manufactured that? Could it be user modified? Jairus, does it have any writing on it?
The Cox guide (which came with the Ackerman Steering Kit PN 4250) doesn't seem to have been available separately, and so unfortunately does not have a part number.

Good call on the GRC! All correct (even the o-ring) except for the white collar.

Regarding the mystery guide, this is the closest I've been able to find so far:
It has the same general configuration, except it is translucent nylon where the guide in Jairus' photo is bright opaque white. The post size is wrong, but that could just be a matter of part number.
Close but no cigar...

Guides were just posted today so when they arrive I'll take some better pictures and note any markings.

Guides arrived today.
Here are a few pics of the mystery guide and no markings are present.
Post 3/16"
Blade length 3/4"
Shoe width 1/2"
Two ejection pin marks are present on the top. A full mold line goes around the shoe base suggesting a two piece mold.
Screws do not appear to be forced into the holes. While they do not match... they appear to be correctly sized to grip the hole. I have seen this before with other guides.

Anybody recognize this guide?

Steve, don't know on that guide but it does have that conical shape at the top of the post which is a little unique. Perhaps it's off one of those obscure Jap makers cars.
I did come across 2 more today, forgive me if I missed them on the list. On the left is an MRRC Cox type copy with quick change and rubber band holder at rear. The other is a Strombecker with a 1/8 post. You list yours as 3/16.
Let me know if you need better pics.

Strombecker never had a 3/16" guide with the brass post, and I am not even sure that they EVER made a 3/16" guide.

MRRC produced two types of guide during the 60,s, the one shown is the "LeMans" guide which was a sort of copy of the Dynamic guide, these were either with 1/8" or 3/16" posts. The other guide was the "Wedge" which was very similar to the JetFlag, both were produced in a graphite looking plastic similar to the Cox gear material. The LeMans is still available from MRRC with a modified guide blade, the plastic used is now black and the blade is a uniform thickness rather than the wasted middle.
Good alternatives for retro projects.

I've read that over and over and still come up with ... "you're not sure" ... lol

Smart move to copy the Dynamic with a twist of Cox .... put both good features in one guide.

First, let's resolve the 3/16" Strombecker brass post issue. That's an error on my part; I also have never seen or heard of a 3/16" brass post Strombecker guide. The chart should say 1/8" brass post, and it will be fixed in the next update.
Likewise, I've never seen or heard of an MRRC guide that looks like a Dynamic Low Profile. Good find! Anybody got a 1960's catalog or price sheet with a part number?
Joe, I've sorted through your collection of guides, and have set aside several to photograph and post up. There are a few I simply need photos of for the chart, a few variations on common guides I've not seen before, and a few that are completely new to me. Photos coming soon.

The MRRC guide is indeed a copy of the Dynamic "quick-change' itself inspired in part from the Cox guide. But the Dynamic and MRRC guides are flawed because the braided contacts are not supported where it matters most, at their frayed ends.
This design was first used by Super Shells if I recall correctly, then copied by Scalextric, then by every Tom, Dick and Harry making slot cars ever since the early 1970s. Why is an enigma to me, when there were so many better ones to copy from.

Excellent point and I agree 100%.
If your flag needs to pivot as far as the Dynamic can ... then .. well .. you know.
The Cox-ish feature I was referring to was the 'rubber-band' centering hook.
