Yes and it should be just fine for OM15. Will you win, probably not, due to lack of experience. But it's perfectly good to start racing, keep your expectations under control. Focus on staying in the slot and making laps NOT on running at the ragged edge for every lap and you will do just fine. In OM15 (like a lot of wing car racing) it's not who is the fastest but who stays in the slot and doesn't drive into every crash on the track that determines who wins. You aren't making laps when the marshall is holding your car in his hand.

Amateur, Pro and OM 15 all used the same motors and chassis. Only difference is the gearing. OM15 uses a spec gear, which makes it a little easier on the motors. Still, the laps are going to be in the 2.3 range. Enjoy.

Count the teeth on the pinion (the little one) if it's 9 you are probably OK because it looks like 72 pitch. If it's 10 you will need to have Doug switch you to a 9 tooth. There might be either a 43 or 44 engraved on the spur gear (the big one). Check that as well and report baclk, lol. Our OM15 cars average low to mid 2.4's to low 2.5's in a race. Some will go into the 2.3's but those are more atypical and are usually by guys who have been in for longer. Our Expert 15 cars are hotlapping in the low to mid 2.2's and racing in the mid to high 2.2's and low 2.3's.

Get a magnifying glass and count the teeth on the pinion and read the number on the spur, I'm probably 3 times your age at least and I can still do that. The spur will be either a 44 or 43 or it could be an 8 or a 9. If it's 8 or 9 (38 or 39) it's 64 pitch and you will need an 8 tooth 64 pitch pinion. It's not ultra critical if you cant figure it out Doug will be able to. Knowing how it's geared will just let you know if it's ready to race or needs a gear change. Also when you are checking lap times you need to remember to the hundreth not just tenth. Most people check motors with as few as 5 laps if its a pig and if its fast keep it on for about 20 to see if the lap times are deteriorating quickly. Not so important for you now. With the restricted gearing required you shouldn't have much fall off in times because the gearing is easy on motors. Thats why we set it, so that newbs could race with one motor and get through the race with some consistency.

International 15 is now raced in spray glue, we don't apply glue to the track anymore. For practice on a green track Koford Medium on the tires before running is probably a good idea.

Anthony, Be sure to ask the folks at PJ before you add glue to the track. Nice job on the old body. Be sure to mount it with the front of the guide flag much closer to the front diaplane. Also be sure to learn about changing the motor brushes.
