Just wait! It was a killer Can-Am vintage racer. Very smooth and pulled forever, just no brakes.

Help -
I went through ALL my brass Kemtron chassis stuff and cannot come up with a mount for a DC-85A.
Does anyone have one of these mounting brackets set-ups or alternates like Speedway or other brass options?
Never mind .. I found an NOS 1601E "Frame End" (pair).
Interesting ... written on the Kemtron header card is " Hold for Corkey" and Ideas who that is?

I've also got an extra pack or two of the Russkit dragster rims if you want those Dennis...
Don
What is the diameter on those rims? German donuts I can get need a .750" wheel.
Posted 08 March 2014 - 08:55 PM
Dennis,
I thought for sure that the big Classic six spoke 5/40 wheels would work for you ... but ... just checked, they come in at .720
Can't put my hands on the Russkit set screw under the tire wheels .. they rather large.
The Dynamic chrome plated five spoke 5/40 drag wheels come in at .955
And ... what ever these threaded wheels are ... .758 minor / ..895 major dia.
Posted 09 March 2014 - 05:28 AM
The Russkit dragster wheels are 3/4" diameter including the flange (measured outside a sealed pack). Diameter where the tire seats looks about 11/16". Width: 13/32", inside flanges: 5/16", overall 9/16" (pack wasn't so sealed after all!).
Hope that will work for you.
Don
PS: Dennis, I'm pretty sure these Russkit rims were sized for the standard German tires of the time - altho the real Germans had to have the inner diameter reamed out a bit... the ones later released by the slot manufacturers did that part for you, and probably removed the skin too!

Thank you Don. If I can get a pair that would be really swell.
I had a bid last night on a set of bearing dragster fronts, but somebody else got them.
Made them pay 40bux for them. . .hope they choke on them.

Which type fronts Foamy?
K&B?
Posted 10 March 2014 - 03:33 PM
Found some Classic Viper rears that are 1 1/8 and pretty soft. Will touch them up and see!
Posted 10 March 2014 - 03:38 PM
Heck yeah .. The Classic 'Jumbo' Viper tires are still soft and the tall skinny six spoke Manta Ray/Toronado tires are open cell German rubber.
I got some if 'any y'all' need a pair.

Are these of any use? EJs has them listed.

I've never seen those Strombecker BB versions but I can say that the Champ/Series wheel have beautiful chrome plating that the image doesn't show too well..
Thanks for posting those Steve.
Might work/look fine on a bodied car.
Posted 10 March 2014 - 04:27 PM
The front wheels were 7/8" K&B bearing dragster fronts with a couple pair of other rear tires.
The Strombecker fronts are not o-ring style.

Dennis, send me your address in a PM and I'll send the Russkit wheels to you...
Cheers,
Don

Excellent Paul, thanks for posting!
Good to see that Manuel Maldonado is still around - he built some of the most beautiful dragsters in the mid-60s.

You're welcome Bob
On another search for info on the DC85 & RAM 850/857 came across another bracket500 link that has discussion and a diagram on motor end plate/lamination shaping
Even has where the poster fitted a bunch of Neo magnets in a RAM with shaped endplates etc ! I know Neo's aren't allowed but shows what can be done & would sure make for a wild ride!

I'm talking with the moderator over on http://bracket500.com/.
There is definite interest in this proxy from these hardcore slot drag guys.
