Aha! Was thinking of using one of those as an unlimited at some point, but the dc65 won the honor for the first Unlimited.
Looks good so far David!
Now all it needs is an H-Power arm
What's the *pull* like where the arm is gonna be spinning with the neos in one of those motor frames David?

This is the Kemtron Mustang motor from my Willy's Gasser. It ran painfully slow with the stock brushes and springs so I decided to adapt a left over end bell from a Pittman 85, similar to the kit shown in a previous post. Extended brush pivots and bearings were added. Bench tested and sent out for zapping. Best of all it fit back into the chassis without alterations.
Bob more entries for the race.
Bob Ellis from Ocala would like to enter.

NICE !!!
You guys are coming up with some really cool combinations.
Padlock building freedom leaves a lot of room for motor creativity.
It's kinda 'refreshing'
Hahahaha - The 2014 Top Speed of the Meet "Valiant Ghost" will be back.

Paul,
This motor needed help, those stocks brushes were eaten up after one race. When I read David's post I started thinking about how to improve this motor. This was the quickest solution.
Bob,
Help Me....I've come down with Padlock FEVER!!!
Sneak peak Unlimited

That is definitely the sneakiest peek Certainly further along with an unlimited than I am.
Just moved into the house so the vintage parts vault and Padlock warriors/projects have been tucked up safely with no work during the utter chaos !

Heck yes !
Mr. Bill said there is lots of chatter with the top Florida drag racers and he expects to bring in 20 drivers as he would like to see each driver run two cars.
Sounds good to me, we will be in great company and Bill and Steve sure know how to run an organized show.
It's going to be a pretty darn big deal again this year.
'It's better than a kids birthday party" Bill is excited
Charlie, will you be able to cover the reporting?
Should it go off to the new magazine for review?
I hope someone can put updates on here from their phone for the guys entered .

The video was great last year seeing the cars launch hard ! Would there be any possibility of seeing a run or two actually going down the strip?
Here's a few parts that may or may not become my unlimited entry *if it gets off the design bench *!
Just out of curiosity Bob, is it OK to use carbon fiber as a chassis material ?
#813
Posted 15 April 2015 - 09:32 AM
Carbon fiber would really push the limit on materials .... you would of had to have 'connections' (or deep pockets) in the 60s to have access to it.
With that said, based on the way the rule is written it is "Legal".
- Any chassis design or materials, we can't put the Genie back in the bottle ... it's been tried.

Did look at that rule first and thought cool , but thought I'd ask first .

Here's the latest on my RGeo rail with its Kemtron/Pittman mill
Just the drop arm pivot/hinge to sort out , a couple of ways I've tried so far and the arm slops around on the pivot holes then final bolting up tight and some running in .

Lookin Gooood Paul.....
The Kemtron fits great!
These old rails sure have a great stance.
Will you be truing the rear meats? Those tires can be 'thumpy' or 'wheelhoppy' right out of the blister.....mister

Yeah the Kemtrons fit great once you adjust the mounting holes and trim the rail pieces to stop them hitting the comm! Gonna need a longer tech block
That's a 10-4 on truing the rears , these most definitely have the nobbly bits on! .. Either these or a set of Russkit drag rear sponges & wheels could be replacing them haven't made the "final" decision.

I'll bring my camera and tripod and go pro. (we might need to take car/chassis pictures before race day to save time?) Also my phone can post updates to slotblog. I will upload video to youtube and link here - did them before, they come out nice when the camera is positioned at the end of the stop glue. I think the report for the slot magazine will need to be under embargo until the issue comes out - we can keep the best images and story separate from the blog post here.

Awesome Charlie !
The first priority is providing as much information to the loyal entrants in close to real time or ASAP, .... a submission to the magazine (if there is any interest) would be secondary.
The way I see it they don't have to be mutually exclusive regardless of what the editors think.
This site has 4,193 members as of today (many have gone on) and many don't even read about or care about Padlock cars.
I would hazard a guess that only about 200 members know or care about this event .... How many magazine copies go out to those that don't read Slotblog?
If anyone is not getting what I'm saying ... say something and I'll rephrase my position.
To be clear we will run the race, inform racers here on Slotblog as usual and customary. We can submit to the magazine and if they pick it up great.
I'm in this for the fun... not the glory.

I know how to separate the info between slotblog and the magazine, no problem. neither will get more or less info - i do this all the time in our fishing magazine.
Is Bill Pinch running a bracket race with all the locals like last year?

You da man !
If Bill can round up the twenty local pros I'm sure there will be some 'other class' cars on hand.
The current 42 vintage cars running round robin will be keeping the track hot.
Bring out the 'fastest cars in Florida' at the end.
I tell ya what ... how about the slowest Rods and Rails car car races the fastest modern car 'in da house' best 2 out of 3.
let me see if I got this straight, you want to race some old relic 5 pound car with a ... motor ... that's a half'a century old against my.... 15/24 neo slip-joint car
And the fans would be like ....
