Nice car !! Thanks for the link Fred.
Field update :
Local pro drag racer "TopGun" George Hawes had sent me an email that I missed. He has a "new" Henry J padlock and he is in. That is 43 cars entered now.
George drove for us last year, yeah that was his 'Hooters' dragster putting up big numbers in the brackets. George is NOT afraid of going fast ... did I say in real life he drove real "Jet Powered" Funny Cars.
I watched "TopGun" drive the JAZ Dodge Omni jet flopper at Englishtown. BadAss ride my friends.
Now ... if I can find the pictures from that day....

Looks like a Ram 850 12 Volt in the Fiat with some chassis damage........

I have not bid on Ebay in years but I will take a shot on the Fiat. I would rebuild, re-tire and have a car to send to the Proxy races! I won't pay over $2000 though!

Well, Unc, I been following this since it was listed. I stopped at 177 so you're next
Honestly, I did not think it was that pleasing to the eye and I am fearful of that chassis arriving here in one piece.
I think it will go higher than many people think.
Good luck to all

It went for $280.........
Posted 20 April 2015 - 05:41 PM
I went to $185 and bailed. It was at 185.99 with 3 sec left.
Hey, this is my 1000 post!

I didn't bid ... Wow, it was quite a prize.... it brought strong money.
$186 to 280 in 3 seconds ... geez hard to win anything good these days.

I would have thought it would have been closer to $500.
I think the fact that it was not advertised as a Mag winder, not a high quality build and the cracks in the chassis held it down.

I didn't know they brought that much money.
Not too much in materials but it takes lots of time and skill to cut them out.
There could be history with some of them that bring more.

Ive been watching many of those oldies and most do go for more then what Id wish go bid, I always wonder who I might be bidding from this group. That other I had listed with the big dynamic wheels only went for $80. This is where Ive accumulated all my padlocks so far but not at those prices, just lucked out on the ones I got and have had for long time when interest wasnt as high then.
Here are 2 items Im watching for now:

I agree with Joe, I thought it could go for close to $500.

Thanks Fred. If anyone knows about drag stuff it's you.
Paul, that first Ebay car has the early Dynamic DC65 one leg chassis. Not correct for that motor but it will work. Second car comes from the same guy as the Mag winder. The quality of these cars is not the best. Would be much more valuable if they had some documented history. At least they most likely came from Cali.
Since I think it may have been me that started a Padlock drag discussion I thought it would be wrong if I did not have at least one Padlock car in the mix.
Lula Mae: Everytime I'm down in the dumps I get a new hat.
Thelma Lou: I was wondering where you got them from
My Godson was driving a carting truck while waiting for his NYPD test. It's an Italian thing
Anyway he stops by with this Hurst Hairy Olds he found in the dump. A little water logged and squished but still sealed. Chrome is half dead and decals are shot. Turn it into a slot car was my immediate reaction.
Gotta have 2 motors I said to myself. Grabbed 2 6V Kemtrons from the pile as well as a Kemtron frame. I made new main rails from some vintage stock. Also began to fab a front motor mount. Brass is 40 thou and a pain to cut. I'm no Thigpen but it should work. Also started hacking the model chassis which I will use to hold the frame.
Most likely will go with K&B Posi locks that will allow me to use cut down model inserts. It will sit lower after more trimming. Man, the motor is so close to the track with this design. This would look cool going down the track with some smoke generators under the wheels

Bob, I did not see the Old's you were doing before. Looks very cool, now I know where your "FEAR OF CLEAR" came from
That baby looks like a "2 pounder" Hope your making some serious power to move her along. If all else fails you can use it for nerfing "special friends" or those rotten 8 year old kids that always seem to find your car on the track.
Oops, sorry Mister

Thanks for the link Mike, They look like 'gold' WTG Ernie.
Those could work ... the 17t could be usable with the common big 48 to 50t spurs.
But ... 64 pitch is the big thing with SW padlocks.
Personally I don't think there is much ET in 64p over 48p but they look, sound and make us feel much better.

No worries Joe. It would be great to have two in a run off, the two 6v Kemtrons will probably smoke two Ram 426 motors.
Who cares ... it's all good fun. Two times 2 times 2 that's a lotta motors running.
Yes ! The 'Fear of Clear' has returned to haunt and frustrate as it has in the past.
LOOK OUT it's a spray
Now where IS my scale... LOL
