So much work went into this and thanks again to all who gave their time etc.

Just thought I would rant for a moment. Don't want to be marked as a complainer or sore loser. My cars were slow and that's why I lost. I have no problem with that. I know this was all for fun. Since it was class racing there were certain guidelines that were laid down as far as car specs.

As far as I can see from just looking at the pics, at least 3 cars that made it to the podium were not within specs.

Many entrants including myself put a lot of time and effort in to stay within the guidelines.

Oh, and a sticker would have been fine instead of writing my name in indelible ink on my bumper  :)

OK, there, I said it  :D

Speaking of 9003 motors, does anyone have a decent one to sell or trade???

Joe,

I put it on the chrome thinking it would wipe right off for you. Try lighter fluid .. should come right off. I have another kit if you want to trade bumpers. Yours has provenance. :good:

I'll go back and look, what are you seeing being done wrong?

As far as tech:

  • I wouldn't 'not' let someone run but call it out if it was something that could have a noticeable, direct or blatant effect on the outcome.
  • We tested and worked on every car there were over a dozen 'problem child' cars based on the 'track lighting'. Considering the mailed cars came in 'just in time' we did good
  • David's 'Banzai' Pick-up was reclassified based on the magnet.

BTW: Crazy as it sounds 'if' that truck is set up right** it could have been one the fastest at the track.

** Maybe about twice as long....

"Whatta ya got in that thang, one of those pesky new sequential wound motors" David?

Impression:

The car has 'berserk horsepower'

If you punch it off the line it pops the front in one car lenth but continues to slide out of the slot for 10-12ft.

Like holding it back with a Big rubber band and letting go.

Soft squeeeeeeeze launch, go full power (captain) at 1/3 track .... Pop! Loooooong slide.

OK, Here we go, we have a local Fl. Pro driver determined to get it 'on down through the lights' after two this is his last shot

:o The crowd grows silent :shok:

Light goes green and there is this loooong smoooooth squeeeeeze with a linear like power application and at half track it just starts to rattle the tires and that turns into the car is wobbling back and forth dancing and skipping until the braid ran out. That is one evil fun ride. :diablo:  :dance3:

I've been making some 'impression' updates in above picture posts. Check back up occasionally for details.

So, I had a good talk with BillP for a less greezzy, better documented and smoother running 3rd annual.

Gluey mess control.

Controlled reverse voltage at track braid in shutdown segment.

Crash barrier materials

Documentation:

Computer - Trackmate capabilities - not getting use of features like ladder printouts.

Local cable TV bundles that include internet to the store for steaming. Has their TV and phone.

Bill will look into a professional wedding/birthday or tech type video guy for next year.

Guide flags

Getting the cars a week early and doing a scheduled test/assignment session the Friday (regular drag night) one week before.

NO  ....  it will have to be a Dodge. No Fords, Chevys (or Fiats) in any class next year. :dash2:  :sarcastic_hand:

Everyone else must run Ti22 bodies and little sealed motors from China. :laugh2:  :bomb:

No, but may have to !

Looking at the truck it will work, but to get any motor in will need to dremel the snot out of the bed. No fender cutting so bed etc is all standard from outside but will put a cover over the bed .

Is this cutting out ok for "stock" as its not outside..or like I'm thinking it will make it gas, altered or even an unlimited

Sounds like it will need to be Altered .. LOL

As long as the fenders and tail gate are stock and a bed cover is fitted, it would still be stock. Hardbody lightening is allow.

Outside fenders and tailgate will not have to be touched at all :good: Just the bed "clearanced" :laugh2: in the middle for anything from a Dynacharger to a RAM 850!

So will see what it ends up, but all being well it's one for Stock .

You know, I was reading the impressions of my Willys truck and thought I should 'splain.

As usual, I over-committed and under-delivered. I wanted to build a nice stocker and some kind of way different unlimited. Didn't happen. I sorta started on the motor, a Strombecker 705-clone. No time for bearings. Looked in archives for a chassis and found an old road car with a Dynamic chassis, too short for a stocker so on goes the Willys. At the last minute, decided to put a neo in it and call it an unlimited. Of course, neo didn't fit so I ground on it until it almost fit and stuck it in the motor with an arm from John H, and it sounded pretty good. On the last day, I took it to MoTown raceway, but I was never able to make a full-power run, but I sent it anyway.

What to do? I could try it with the stock magnet, or maybe a Ram XL-500 type motor. I could keep working on it, or return it to the archives. I think the motor combo deserves more development, maybe a scratch-built rail?? Who knows?? All I know is that it does not go A-B very well as it is right now. I'm open to suggestions!

From the fairly wild description it certainly seems it's got enough raw grunt to be worthy of further investigation.

Sounds like it's definitely got too many horses for such a short vehicle/not enough weight. Could scratch a rail for it or a custom long dynamic tongue :laugh2: With a front engine dragster shell on it?

Being a nice H-Power arm it will be good with either vintage or neo magnet :good:

Crack on !

Nice results for the rails :good:

Hmmm, all it needs is some non dynamic rubber for next year and could shave a good bit off it's best of 1.3 .

That will be one car ready in plenty of time :D :laugh2:

Here's another question:  use (or not) of comm juice. Sometimes I use Voodoo but it seems to leave a lot of residue and require frequent cleaning. Recently, I have begun to just make sure the comm is clean and dry....any input on this?? Any better juice that anyone wants to talk about? Again, I don't drag race so I don't get to talk to a lot of racers and we know the oldie/goodie stuff is long gone, especially here in California.

I broke my NOS motors in using Trinity-Turbo Drops.

Cleaned it with brake cleaner when it got 'slurry' looking.

Put one drop on comm, oiled the bushings, checked the current draw on the PS and that was it.
