I do like Dennis's thought. Put a sign on the door saying that, "All that enter these hallowed grounds are destined to turn marshal".
"... a good and wholesome thing is a little harmless fun in this world; it tones a body up and keeps him human and prevents him from souring." - Mark Twain

That is a narrow front section in your shop. People will need to turn marshal as soon as they walk in!
The pic doesn't show it well but there is 11 feet from the door to the track.
My old location was more "keep moving or you're a marshal". LOL.
It was about four feet.

Of course I said I would add a faux pole.
There might be a power drop, but just a thin piece of conduit, like on the King.

Looks good, Mike. Should make for a relaxing lounge.
Way too nice for slot car racers, we won't feel at home.
Probably more for people attending a birthday party for seven-year-old boys.
Those usually get real loud. LOL.

I got another chunk of the floor painted today. Also, I finished the areas that will have the wood flooring.
Shown is the small hallway to one of the bathrooms.
Anyone that is available on Saturday at 11AM, please contact me. I need a small group of guys to move the King track sections on to the newly painted area. Only about an hour of work, tops, but the ambitious can stay around and work on the flat track braid.

Some stuck around and started on the braid on the flat track.
It will basically be reglued down everywhere but possibly the main straight.
Between the heavy use of Zip Grip, especially early on, and it being glued down originally in 2007, the glue is shot.

I finally figured out if I was going to be working in puddles of water, wearing shoes and socks was pretty stupid.

Excerpt from "The Abominable History of The Man with Copper Fingers" (1928) by Dorothy L. Sayers:
“He liked to have everything of the best. There was his mistress, Maria Morano. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything to touch her, and when you work for the screen you’re apt to have a pretty exacting standard of female beauty. She was one of those big, slow, beautifully moving creatures, very placid, with a slow, wide smile. We don’t grow them in the States. She’d come from the South — had been a cabaret dancer, he said, and she didn’t contradict him. He was very proud of her, and she seemed to be devoted to him in her own fashion. He’d show her off in the studio with nothing on but a fig leaf or so — stand her up beside one of the figures he was always doing of her, and compare them point by point. There was literally only one half inch of her, it seemed, that wasn’t absolutely perfect from the sculptor’s point of view—the second toe of her left foot was shorter than the big toe. He used to correct it, of course, in the statues."
LOL!
(Full disclosure: this was a long-running private joke between me and my soon-to-be ex-wife, whose feet are like Mike's while my second toes are longer than my big toes. When I showed her the above quote as proof, her reply was, "That's a work of fiction.")

Kevin,
I think the term you were shooting for instead of "dirty" was "mastic speckled". LOL.

I got another big chunk of floor painted earlier, today.
Saturday night racer, and Chicago's premier collector of vintage bicycle's and slot cars, Mark Mattei, stopped by today to help out on the braid on the flat track.

I finished up another 800-900 sq. ft. of painting tonight.
I'm now about 80-85% finished.
All that is left is an area for a future track.
With the area where the King will sit, more than finished, I'll be working on putting it together this weekend, including raising it up.
With a hardbody race this weekend in South Bend, I'll have to make a few calls on whether Sunday will work out better for volunteers.
I'll post here as soon as I know.
