Fred, we go back a few years now. You argued for years about following the rules to the letter and I understood exactly the point you were trying to make. Now you are embracing the HR motor, which is proven out of rules spec?? I am puzzled on your change up? I truly understand the popularity of the new motor for all the above mentioned reasons. I have this seen this road followed before, to make the rules meet the product instead of the product meeting the rules. One day the reply is "dems the rulz" then tomorrow it's roll you own?..................

good luck getting the higher ups to agree on a new class.
Not an entirely new class. Just a change of the allowed motor in an existing but seemingly abandoned class.
Sometimes changing one ingredient makes the dish more appealing.
Changing the rules shouldn't be too big a deal since the class is not being run as of yet.

With all the talk about the HR FK motor I thought I would go back and see how the R4/7 GTC FK and PD top 8 performed. Sort of a comparison. The PD lap total was 292.8, the FK was 283.7. Only a 9.1 lap total difference but then it gets unusual. In the GTC PD top 8 there are 5-4.8s, 2-4.7s, and 1-4.6 best lap times. In the GTC FK top 8 there is 5-4.8s and 3-4.9s. Not bad for a $12 motor. In fact the winner of the FK race would have placed 5th in the PD race right behind Matt Bruce.

Let's see how much interest there is in the car. Thinking Can-Am bodies.
So who's got motor building tips on these Puppies? What air gap for what conditions? Zap the magnets or not?

Sam, have your arms balanced then send me your setup and arm or just send me everything.

Or better? I keep hearing about how guys won't race Retro 'cause they are not allowed to build their own motors. Who knows,Fast Freddie may even participate.
Sam, you hear about them but they are spread out all over the country. I think you'd have a hard time getting enough of them in one place to have a race.

How far out is the HR, 1 turn on 1 pole. That's pretty good Q&A for China.
And we don't even know if these people counted right. How many times have you had to count the teeth on a crown or spur gear to get the same answer twice?

So here is how we do it at Retro East. It's called "FUN" and nobody racing in RE cares what motor is run in whose car. When JJ and I run side by side in a heat we shake and hug and say, "Man that was great". Same goes for George, Phil, and all the other guys. When Matt, Ed, Ray or whoever breaks a record, we say, "Great run, way to go".
We all have a fun day until next race when we look forward to having fun again. We race what ever we feel is best for the day.
Stop with the motor BS already, those that run what they run it's their choice whether it be cost, performance, reliability, etc. The board-approved motors are for the racers choice to use. Leave the fun to those that want to follow the rules and race.
Enough is enough. I'm not going to defend my post; I spoke my piece.

We pretty much know where most posters stand on issues... It always comes back to motors, magnets, tires, or gears.
Couldn't all the BS talk about built/un-built motors as well as non-IRRA classes be moved to a different topic category or thread.
I would think this topic heading should be more focused on written rules questions, procedures, and the goals of the organization.
Wow... am I glad I'm not reading all the 'noise' on Facebook.

- Can a Parma FCR chassis be cut up and used as a chassis 'kit' as long as final construction meets Chassis rule 3h and 3i?
- Are Parma style square bushings drilled oversize or undrilled legal?

Number 2 question: there is no rule on the bushings except what they are made of and of course you must use a minimum 3/32" diameter axle.

Paul, the intent is to us a convential Retro-style motor bracket for the FC-Retro 'kit' built.
The square 3/32 bushings up front might have some merit for "MY DropChassis RearSteer LTO" (limited production) builds..
Great play on the FCRetro mix.
