I still have not seen one...
3rd issue is really shaping up to be a collectable however.

I appreciate the recommendation, Karl. I do love the width and breadth of the 1/32nd world and I would love the opportunity to report and review upon it. Although I suppose a tremendous bit depends on what the magazine would need in a 1/32nd scale correspondent.
Hosting a SC State 1/32 scale WOMP championship race in August. I'll send some good pictures and details of the event of you might like to use them.

Do you guys know if there is a big national slot car show?
For model cars, we have a lot, but they are, of course, contests, and a lot are People's Choice type of shows, but they are all about the model cars.
Is there something like this for slot cars?
Biggest shows/races?
Jairus and I went to that Buena Park one way back in the early/idea days of SCM, but that's all I have been subjected to.
Curious as to what's out there.

Still awaiting delivery of issue 2

Issue #2 was mailed.
Not everyone will receive it at the same time.
This is the way it is with smaller publications.
It's a Power Of Six.
If there are six or more copies being sent to a major drop zone, a big post office center in the U.S., then they get sent to that local post office for delivery usually the next day or so.
If there are less than six, they go to the next up drop/distribution center, where they wait until there are more periodicals/magazines to be sent to that next drop zone, and sometimes then a next smaller drop zone, and then finally they get sent to the local delivery area/post office.

How does it work for international subscribers?

Not sure how International work. I would assume that they have a similar set up. And it would take a lot longer, that slow boat and all, you know…
It would be interesting to find out how that works though.
Kelly and I did found out the ins and outs of the mailings when we did Plastic Fanatic many many many years ago.
It was an interesting experience, to say the least.

Thank you for the interesting fact on mailings, I appreciate your response as it could have just been "its been mailed, just wait!" which is an answer we all have received at least once.

International mail is made up of three entities.
The U.S. Postal service.
An independent courier. (Probably UPS)
And the arriving countries postal system.
Each step has their own quota system just as Gregg explained. Some are based on region and some on load.

This is my first post on the blog, and I want to be as helpful as I can to Gregg and Jairus. #1, I'm just glad we have this magazine. #2, I agree that not everything will appeal to everybody, but so far the mix has been interesting to me.
Some thoughts: #1, that detail thing: example - issue 1, the GTO buildup on p. 27, caption says "drive shaft connector is a Pro-Slot item." What item? What product #? Same issue, p.10 - the article on the Samson wheels -- there should have been a cut line describing the 4 wheels pictured -- I'm guessing l-r can-am+, can-am, F! and stock car, but??? It's obvious from this blog that not everyone has access to the same level of building and parts knowledge, and this mag should be as informative as possible. Same issue, Retro build -- where does one find Warmack parts? Issue #2, p.31 - decals on the inside of the body. Wet them, then stick with Pledge, or what? Hope this is not over the top -- I think these are things readers, especially newbies, would want to know.
#2, I find the 1/32 reports missing the point for the general audience (at least for me). There is some descriptive language used that just doesn't compute for a me, and I actually would like to understand these cars better. Plus, the reports aren't consistent from review to review on what is covered.
#3 - On race reports, I'm split -- it was fun to see some names from way-back, but I'm not a fan of detailed race reports. But the CARS!!! Show us more chassis pics, and from the top, too, since that will really reveal more of the build detail. Apparently an anglewinder class ran -- would love to see those cars. Which reminds me -- when you show retro builds, it might be nice to refer to the current rules and where the build deviates for the local track, etc. -- the report did some of that, but more could have been helpful. Imagine someone (especially a newbie) who decides to clone the retro chassis in issue #1, only to find they can't race it at their local track or series. I realize this gets very close to the old complaints of the '60's about common rules, but Im just sayin'.
Well, I hope this is received as helpful, because I mean it that way. Still also working on the article I mentioned to Jairus 6 months ago. Thanks all.

Chris, I corrected your typo on Gregg's name I don't disagree with you on wanting more detail, but magazines do have space and time limitations. I don't think "Slot Cars magazine" is intended as "the last definitive word" on any subject. The ultimate goal of any instructor should be to inspire students to a higher learning level of the subject matter. I don't speak for the magazine, but I'd like to address some of your points on issue #1:
1) "p.10 - the article on the Samson wheels -- there should have been a cut line describing the 4 wheels pictured -- I'm guessing l-r can-am+, can-am, F! and stock car, but???"
I'm the author of that article so I can speak to that. The picture in question came directly from Mr. Samson and is the same as the one on his website. I did not think to label them, and I stand corrected on that. I did place the web address in the first sentence of the first paragraph. It seems intuitive to me that anybody wanting more info than the article provides can go to the website and even email or call Mr. Samson.
2) "where does one find Warmack parts?"
Slotblog has a search engine on the home page that works well. Type in "Bryan Warmack" and you will find the man himself. (Whoops, J misspelled Bryan on page 17)
3) "p.31 - decals on the inside of the body. Wet them, then stick with Pledge, or what?"
Again, Slotblog search engine - type in "decals on the inside" and loads of good info instantly comes up.
4) "Imagine someone (especially a newbie) who decides to clone the retro chassis in issue #1, only to find they can't race it at their local track or series."
If a newbie did that, he or she skipped reading paragraph 3. The author did a perfect job, in my opinion, of explaining rule variations in different locales.
Again, Chris, I don't mean to take away from your point of more detail, it's valid.

I guess it can be hard to spell stuff out enough for everyone.
At some point we writers have to figure the reader has a modicum of knowledge about the subject or they wouldn't bother to read the magazine.
Consider picking up "Wired" and attempting to understand everything written on those pages? No freaking way unless the reader is a geek about computers.
Slot Cars Mag is an attempt to reach out to old fans now moved on, new fans and the uninitiated. But there has to be some understanding of the concept or it's "See Dick run. Run Dick run" and nobody is entertained.
Bryan Warmack is not a company. Just a guy who produces nice stuff.
He is just one of MANY who produce these pieces and it doesn't really matter where they come from.
That is the reason I didn't provide a web site or address.

Have had the second issue for a couple of weeks, and even bought another first issue after someone use the cover of the first one I purchased for a coaster and got it wet. I like the magazine, and like any new effort there will be "teething" problems and obstacles to get by.
I for one am thankful that we have this new magazine to read, and I appreciate everyone's effort that goes into getting it out there on the market. I generally have to order mine from PCH since I haven't found anyone locally that has it on the shelf, but that's ok with me.
As an aside, anyone wanting quality chassis parts from Bryan Warmack, just email or message him and he will get back to you asap. He chassis parts are top notch and I've been using them for building chassis for awhile now. Definitely one of the nicer guys in the industry and to me, a living legend from the old days like Ursaner, Gross, and others. I'm also a user of the Samson front retro wheels, and they are great and sized perfectly for my builds.
Jairus, you and Gregg keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next issue.
