Sam you seem have an alarming lack of empathy. You may have gotten lucky, but don't you feel bad for all of your fellow forum members that have been screwed out of their money?

It seems the safe thing to do is buy this mag from your local slot car track and not risk your money on a subscription.

Damnit Mike, you crossed the line!
You know better than that and do not unlock this thread until you apologize or delete your post.

The biggest problem is not with subscribers, but many of the hobby shops and tracks the mags were sent to.  They have not paid for issues sold.
You do not know the big picture and it would be best if you laid off the keyboard.

Sorry, but you are making excuses for a guy who owes people for a product they have paid for.

From your post #364.

I have my own concerns my friends.
Voiced them on Monday this week and he didn't fire me.

Sad to say, but obviously the slot car hobby is not big enough hobby to support a professional magazine. Possibly there is not enough "new" to make it interesting to enough subscribers.

I think most mags pay their bills by selling advertisements. With most American based companies being cottage industries of some sort, there is not many advertising dollars to support a magazine. An online adventure is probably the better choice.Eliminate the printer and post office all together.

I'm not sure why you would send magazines to outlets for sale and hope they pay you. Most of those outlets probably have a hard time paying their electric bills.

Easy to set back here and criticize what was probably a foolish idea. I guess even trying takes some respect, even if it hasn't worked out.

Everyone prepays Mike for parts orders and he always delivers on his promise. I've never heard anyone complain about Mike.

But that's not a pat on the back for Mike. That's what should be expected. That's what honest people do. I don't see how anyone can view Gregg as the victim. The subscribers are the victim, and if Gregg can't deliver the product then he should refund the subscriber's money.

But from reading the link Mike posted, it looks like the model mag is in trouble too. I don't think anyone should hold their breath while waiting on a mag or a refund.

Actually, not.

I don't have a shopping cart so no one sends me money until I request it.

And I don't run credit cards, or request a a PayPal payment, until I have the merchandise in hand, and plan to ship that, or the next day.

And most raceways pay me by check, sent after they receive their order.

That said, the info in post #382, that subscribers may not of gotten their paid for, single copies, because Gregg chose to send out multiple copies, not prepaid, boggles the mind.

I paid for a subscription and all the back issues on November 5th by Paypal.  After seeing this thread I checked my account, they show a USPS tracking number in transit from Honolulu HI, due to be delivered Monday.

If anyone else paid by Paypal, you might check and see if they show anything.

First off, yes, Issue #5 is at printer.

Yes, late again

I have to apologize, big time, to these people:

Nathaniel

Marvin
Michael
Shawn
Thomas

They had signed up for the lifetime subscription back in May-June, but for some reason, and I still  don't know why, they weren't included in the downloads from PayPal that I import into Excel.
At first, I was kind of t'd off since I had sincerely thought I had everyone (at that time, there were seven supporters), and they had all gotten their copies, and a note.
But today, after doing a full download, from January to today, there showed up five more names for Lifetime Subs.
Man oh man
Did I screw up!
I am not out to rip anyone off.
I am doing this basically myself (the business side, not the content, art work, layouts, articles, etc).
I am doing the bookkeeping, accounting, filing, forms, post office, printer, subscriptions, databases, web sites, back issues, digital issues, digital downloads, content management, and about seven other things, at once, and then of course, Model Cars Mag, which is another story.
There are going to be speed bumps along the way
I am lost as to why the Lifetime subs were not included
I am sending out packets today, to those listed above.

Do I feel stupid?
Yups
Will this happen again?
Man, I hope not!
Are things getting better?
Yes, talking with someone who may be willing to help/invest (good friend who I spent time with recently)

All I can say is I'm doing the best I can.
If it's not good enough, well, not much I can say about that.

All I can say is, shoot, can't remember the saying, something about walking in shoes, or something like that.

Aloha and Mahalo nui loa

As one of your lifetime subscription members, I'm still okay. You said in due time the issues delivery would improve, I trust your word is good and that will happen. If I could suggest one thing, perhaps let the folks know there are delays, or the timing of the next issue hitting the mail. Sometimes no news is bad news.

OMG!!!  I'm having another flashback!!!  I seriously feel like I've been scammed!  I wonder if this has reached the level of a class-action lawsuit?  I would like to see a list of all the people that paid for, and haven't recieved their mags at this time.  Sometimes statements like "I'm doing my best, give me a chance" aren't enough, and I think this is one of those times

I think if you ever thought a Slotcar mag was going to be a viable entity in the long term then sadly I think you'll be in for disappointment

Even mainstream magazines are suffering
Newspapers are dying
Forums like this don't even have huge followings...

It's a changing world
I think you're lucky to have got 4 and maybe 5 issues....

"Lucky"???

I can't see where the topic of a magazine has any bearing on the publisher's obligation to provide what he sold, and still actively offers for sale.

This is not the first time I've heard this attitude, it's also been expressed to me by several vendors.  Personally, I'm getting very tired of hearing "Slot cars aren't popular, you're lucky anything is available, so expect bad service".  No wonder slot cars aren't popular!

OK let me re-phrase that so your interpretation of 'you're lucky' is what I meant

replace "you're lucky" with "I'm surprised"
