Minimum weight is 101 grams. I don't understand this thing about the lead wire; just run the lead wire that came as RTR. Tell me what is behind the need to change out the lead wire?
The only issue is that if I build my car from scratch, then I don't have access to the stock, JK-brand lead wire.

A specific item came to my attention last night on these rules. The maximum rear wing height is now set at 1 9/16" as measured on the tech block.

Mike, You are right. My RTR car has the Target Indy car body on it; #10 in fact. BTW: this RTR weighs in at 103.4 grams.
Here is a pic.
JK's part number is: JK20817210.IMG_2269.JPG
Just so I keep things straight in my mind....the car in the pict is a box stock RTR by JK? No modifications or custom body?

Correct. The car in the photo is my car. Its the JK body as came on the car. Not a custom body.
I have only re-routed the lead wires, reinforced the body on the inside, and added a couple axle spacers to the front axle.
With the RTR bodies from JK, the car looks awesome.

This is the proposed text of the rules for next year's JK Indy car class. The main objective is to keep the car as close to "box stock" as possible. MySeries had 11 entries for the 1st race and 16 entrants for the 2nd race. It appears that this class is really taking off in Florida.

JK Hawk 7. Must not have been opened or tampered with in any way.
Chassis
Must use JK 251172 RTR chassis - No Modifications.
May replace front and rear bushings. Only the rear bushings may be soldered to the chassis.
May solder in the motor.
May add weight to the top side of the chassis.
Maximum front and rear track width is 3.250”
Guide
May use any brand guide flag and nut. No plastic guide nuts are allowed.
May add or subtract guide spacers.
Lead Wire
Must use clear lead wire. Only the stock JK RTR lead wire or TQ 136 is allowed.
Tires
Must use black JK plastic-hub rear tires. No “Speed” rubber. Minimum rear tire diameter is .750”
Must use black JK front tires that are the same as are shipped on the RTR car
Axle & Gears
Must use a solid 3/32” axle - front and rear. No stubbies. No independent rotating front wheels.
Must use 64-pitch 10-Tooth pinion and 37-Tooth spur gear. Any brand.
Body
Must use JK 6113XX body that is .010 thick.
May add tape or body armor to the front nose area, rear wing, and body clip locations/

Why the tight restriction on lead wires?
To keep the class as close to spec as possible, primarily for novice users. JK may or may not have his particular lead wire available to the general public for sale, the TQ wire closely matches it in size and weight and is a legitimate substitute for someone to use. Simple enough, and I applaud My Series for adopting this class. It allows a novice to buy a car out of the case, do very minor chassis tuning and setup, and go race and be on equal footing.
The rules make very good sense for a spec class, with probably the only end differences between any car on the race grid that night being car-livery color and driver ability. If anything, over the next couple of years, the rules on this class do not need to change or be tweaked to keep the "speed Freaks at all cost" at bay.

I'm actually not challenging the rule so much as getting some education on the lead wire. I wouldn't have ever thought to put a rule on the wire.

wire change not gonna effect performance, unless you go light weight.

When I moved to Florida BRM cars was a big class run at the raceways. Then ASR started screwing with the rules with faster motors, no weight limit etc. with in weeks the class was over.

Yeah, what Tony said. And Mike and Rollin. Two types of lead wire are allowed; the clear insulation type (JK RTR) and the TQ. One of the major objectives was to keep all the cars very close in performance (box stock) so that the novice racer knows that his car is nearly same as the expert racer. I like the way Tony said it. After the race, the racer can put the car back into his box and show up at the next race with a competitive car.

Michael, The weight rule is very important also. When it comes to us racers, we will do anything that will reduce the weight of the car. So the lead wire rule coupled with the weight rule takes out of the equation us racers going to great lengths to reduce the weight of the car. Keeping the car very close to box stock is what will make this car class very successful. Any lead wire could be used, but the minimum weight must still be met.

When Doc, Dennis, and Matt (maybe another racer or two) started talking about racing these cars, I remember them suggesting that we keep the car box stock.I plan to keep this particular class a box stock class. I just didn't know if it went all the way down to the wires.
Great idea.
And as Tony said, it makes the class easy to participate in when the cars have to remain stock.
The Rigsby is correct about why we spec TQ 136 as the only replacement leadwire....it's the closest in appearance to the stock wire that JK uses. Makes it easy to tech since the stock JK wire and theTQ wire are perhaps the only clear wires available. And I don't think JK offers his wire as a stand alone product.
