We got one more chance to race on the Challenger before the tracked got changed over for the oval race season.  Mike debuted a hot Porsche 918 Spyder.  Jess Holman made the podium again with her lighting fast Porsche 962.  And Kurt took top spot his newly built and beautifully detailed BMW.  Jerry Sr is moving up in the finishing order...go Jerry!  Back on the Lightening next week.

Ok the holidays are over and now its back to business on the Red Lightening track.  Mikey has made the plunge and is now the owner of a Porsche 962 built by Tyler.  Kurt always has something new in the works.  This week it's a Toyota FRS that is wrapped in vinyl decals.  And Mike has fixed and revamped his Porsche now with Harley Davidson contingencies.

We had eight lanes full of fun on Sunday.  Some racers were tired after running the Penn-Jersey series since early that morning and decided to go home however friends Al and Martin stopped by to race with us. Stephen has been moving up the ranks at TRP and stayed to race Andy's green Lotus.  Jerry pushing the envelope this week making for some very loud and amusing de-slotting.  And my apologies to Mike Haskins for occasionally misspelling his name and improperly identifying his car here on the forum.  You figure that doing this weekly I should be able to get it right...lol.  All said and done, there was some really good racing and of course lots of laughs.  BTW Tyler took the top spot by only a foot and a half ahead of me at the end of the race.

Another week of eight lanes full of Hardbodies.  If we could get everyone to show up at once there would be at least sixteen!  Tyler hit the 200 lap mark again.  Only half a lap from setting a new record.  Andy did some last minute repair to Jess's Porsche.  And Chuck returned after a month to set this races fast lap.  Good racing and lots of laughs as always.

Its been a couple of weeks of other racing and personal obligations but a few of us managed to pull it together this past Sunday.  Tom doesn't often get a chance to race with us so it was good to see him.  I managed to slip in front of Tyler this week.  He was having body issues causing random desloting.  Good close racing between Glenn, Jerry and Tom.

I'm not sure what happened to Chucks beautiful Porsche but it looks like he will be retiring that one.  Good to see Charlie back again!  And Jerry's lap count keeps getting higher, not far from the 190 mark.

I'm feeling inspired to build a new car.  Hmmm what body to chose...

There were some good looking Hardbodies to hit the track this past weekend.  A warm welcome to painter extraordinaire Brian Blaser and his beautify done purple and silver Chevrolet.  Brians car even had functioning headlights and tail lights.  I think we need to have a headlight race this spring.  These cars look awesome racing together!

The final Penn-Jersey race of the season had most of the crew out in PA representing. That left only four racers this week.  With Kendall Paterson as the race director, and only marshal, we were wise to be cautious and keep the cars in the slots.  Mikey did great! Setting his personal best in both lap times and lap totals .

It went down this weekend.  New lap total and fast lap records were set in Hardbody on Sunday.  Tyler Donzella raised the bar and set the new lap total at 202 laps.  And I had been trying to beat a previous fast lap of 6.80 and finally shattered it at 6.69.  Brian Blaser piloted a sweet 53 Chevy and Tyler Irwin joined in with his Mustang (also painted by Brian).  Mikey was back in his Porsche with a new motor installed and Miss Jess Holman ran Kurt's FRS.  Good times, good racing.

The coolness of Brian's 53 Chevy inspired me to pull my Mercury off the shelf and put it back on the track.  Following suit, Kurt busted out a Honda Odyssey minivan with ground effects and a spoiler.  Defiantly not able to keep up with the Porsches or the other wider cars it was fun and challenging driving something different.  These cars look awesome racing around and draw lots of attention from spectators.

now that I see some rat rod/hot rods it's time for me to race my '34 Ford again! 2 classes raced at the same time: real race cars (setting track records) and hot rods: the coolness factor is off the charts!  I love it!

First off all of us at The Race Place would like to send our best wishes to Jerry Herbert Sr.  He had reconstructive surgery on his hand last week and we wish him a speedy recovery.  It was not the same without him there on Sunday. 

 

Lots of fun this week.  Carl Paterson has been busy tending to life for a while now so it was good to have him back.  He raced one of Tyler's cars and wound up with his first podium finish in Hardbody.  Tom's nicely detailed 911 handled amazing for such a short wheelbase car.  His consistent driving landed him with his first podium spot at The Race Place as well.  Kurt showing up again with another new car, this one a vintage Skyline.  Chuck and CJ Malave raced father and son in their team orange colors.  Fast laps and cool cars.

Our good friends Mike Haskins and Tom Spellcheck were back again with us this week for some pre-Easter Hardbody racing.  Tom returned with his sweet 911 but this time it was wet sanded and buffed out to a mirror finish.  Anything for an extra tenth or two, lol.  Tyler showed up with a newer Mustang build but the motor gave up the magic smoke during practice (barely seen in the picture).  And Mike brought in some deliciousness in the form of home baked cookies.  Good friends and fun racing.  See everyone in two weeks.
