Congratulations to Kurt! He is the third one to hit the 200 lap mark racing his new McLaren. Tyler raced his new Porsche 962 and Glenn did exceptionally well with his little Howmett. Glenn's car is small enough to fit under the Porsche body! The racing gets better every week.

We had a good turnout this past Sunday. Congratulations to Glenn, the fourth person to join the 200 club! And a warm welcome to Walker. A Friday flexi NASCAR racer that is now joining us for Hardbody's. And the nicest surprise was to have Race Place owner, Jerry Herbert, race Hardbody with us for the first time! Jerry piloted Joe Emm's Pink Porsche 962. I was sporting a freshly painted multicolored Porsche 962 body to replace a well seasoned old one.
Just a reminder, The Race Place will be closed until September 6th with the exception of Fridays 6-11 PM.

thanks Rich, I will take pix of the chassis for you. Yes I use brass pans, and they are soldered very close to being as flush as possible to the center section of the chassis bottom. No one else is using this set up. I still use the H&R body pins and aluminum brackets, and I prefer to use the ProTrack aluminum pins on the body, as they don't break if you crash. This body is a bit of a tight fit, so I don't have as much body float as I would like. I will be building more vintage era cars this winter, and will continue to use the brass side pans. Note that my cars are much heavier than the other fast cars, and I run a different crown gear than they do- I use 29t vs 32-33 t gears that others run in cars without any chassis weight. So lots of options in chassis/body tuning and still get the same quick lap times.

in the previous race, I had worked on chassis tuning on my Howmet Can-am car, with it's short wheelbase and tires tucked under the wheel wells, I managed to get it from 7.75 to 7.03 lap times- quite a task! And 194 laps total is respectable for that tiny and heavy car- it surprised me too! For this last race, I tweaked my Can-Am Tamiya bodied Lola &70 a bit more and got another 6.85 out of it, but this race I managed to get 200 laps, and a surprise win in a field of really fast and good handling cars, all much lighter than mine too. Here are the pix as requested:

I think sixteen hours of Retro racing at Pt Jeff the day before left most of us exhausted. Hardbody was a good way to end a weekend of racing.
*** Next Sunday the 23rd The Race Place will be having its first three track series monthly event that runs most of the day. Hardbody is scheduled to run after but might start late depending on how the day flows. If you need info text or pm me and I will keep you up to speed.***

Last week the Three Track Series event left us exhausted but its back to business as usual this week. Unfortunately Glenn had technical difficulties, seemed to be a tire issue. Looks like Jerry Sr is starting to get the hang of driving Hardbodies which is going to help him in retro as well.

Even though the main event for the weekend was the Fall Brawl a few of us were still able to make it together for some Hardbody racing. Joining us this week for the first time is a special young man named Mikey. He has been racing Friday night Nascar with us for a while and does well in his class. For his debut he piloted my infamous loaner car, a Olds 88. Coming in at a 5 inch wheelbase and with a low stance it is a forgiving car to drive. With a stock Parma resistor controller in his hand Mikey turned a lap total of 174 and a fast lap of 7.5, great work for his first Hardbody race. Charlie made podium this week but Jerry Sr is not far behind. I'm still waiting for that sleeper to wake up lol.

Yesterday was a full day of racing at The Race Place. The second event in the Three Track Series, we ran three races before even getting to Hardbody! But we all stuck around and finished the day with lots of laughs. It was good to have Mike back again to race, thanks for waiting and marshaling. After kicking butt and winning the 4 1/2 NASCAR class Andy's daughter Jess raced her first Hardbody....very cool young lady. We decided to cut the length of the race down to six heats. With eight racers it left two marshals and ran it straight trough. Talking with fellow racers we might take the opportunity and try racing on the Challenger track next week while it is set up in the road coarse layout.

This week we tried something different. We raced on the Challenger roadcorse. This track is usually set up as an oval so we don't get much time on it in this configuration. Some like it and some did not but in the end I think everyone had a good time. Maybe we will get another chance before the it changes back to the oval again.

good to see new racers these past few weeks. I have not made it due to both a cold/flu and my back went out again (lotsa pain, can't bend or twist). Will return to racing when I am feeling better.

All of us at The Race Place are wishing you a speedy recovery Glenn!!! We were back on the Lightening track this past Sunday but will on the Challenger roadcorse again next week. Joe had crusty tire issues stemming from age and lack of use leaving him to play a game of 'how many times can the tail of his car tap the walls on the outer lanes'. Mike drove his BMW convertible like he stole it. Dukes of Hazzard style all the way, he got every bit from that car.

It was back on the Challenger again this week for some tight turned hill climbing action. A nice field of eight cars made for some good racing. Mike did well with it being his first time on this track. Miss Jess Holman did even better putting her in second place for a podium finish. We were all in good spirits being the end to a fun filled weekend of Flexi NASCAR, Retro and Hardbody racing at The Race Place.
