May 2016 marks one successful fun filled year of Hardbody racing at the Race Place. Big thanks to everyone that comes out to race and has helped this class grow. In hopes to better and further Hardbody racing there will be new rules put into effect May 1 2016. Don't worry, the only change in the rules will be that the body is no longer restricted to 1985 and older model year. The revised rules opens up body choice to any model year. All other rules remain the same.

Congrats to Andy. His Lotus 30 finally broke into the 6 second lap times. Tyler and his Corvette took the win this week. The track was nice and clean, giving the shorter wheelbase cars the edge.

Sunday evening Hardbody racing always leaves smiles on our faces. This Sunday the open model year body rule change went into effect. Mike came with a new Corvette and Kurt his new red Nissan. Some very close racing shows the progression in both driving and building across the field especially with such a variety of different body sizes and styles.

2 Kurt Mansfield Nissan GReedy
3 Max Mohring Olds 88
4 Andy Sr Lotus 30

close racing as seen in the 3rd-7th place finishers as we were within 2 laps of each other at race end. And now it seems that the 7.00 lap time is close to becoming the average speed. this is fun!

The H&R Racing chassis is a great platform to work with, and is easily used for all types of bodies, long, short, wide, and narrow. Lots of options for body mounting and tuning to race well. From out of the package to blueprinted, you can build a great running car.

My apologies for the late posting...
Chuck Malave had a weekend of firsts. Friday he won NASCAR "A" for the first time and Sunday he won Hardbody for the first time. Good work Chuck! I believe it was also his first time running a sub 6 second lap time in a Hardbody race. We had a small turnout but the racing was great. Top three finished within one lap of each other.

2 Kurt Mansfield Nissan GReedy
3 Max Mohring Yellow Porsche 692

It is definatly a fast car now that Chuck got all the bugs worked out. Its low and light weight. We have found that the short wheel base cars work best when the track is clean and lower grip. When the track has more rubber and grip on it the longer wheelbase cars drive smother and the shorter cars hop around more. So far the fastest lap in the class is held by a Porsche 962 bodied car in the low 6.7 second range.

And today is the return of the truck. I got a new motor and some chassis mode to go with it. I have some other mods too as I add sway bars to the cars to help tune out that tipping. Max, I think you will be surprised at some of the ideas. Just hope it works.
I also have some ideas on headlight systems. See you later unless you have a better offer.

well I finally raced my red Tamiya bodied Lola T70. This car was built to rules before this group started, but all I had to do was to change out the rear axle ball bearings to oilites. However the pinion gears I am using are horribly noisy, so all of my cars need new angled pinions so I can sneak by without anyone noticing! lol!! You can sure hear my cars coming! As I continue to unpack from moving I now have my power strip, power supply, and tire truer back up and operational. With car projects lined up, time to start building and painting again. Some will be built with the intention to race, some for fun- lots of vintage era hot rods, rat rods, trucks, and more! Yeah, this is fun

Alright, I heard the grumbling. Alex has gotten too fast. He picked up about 30 laps from his last race. Time for that new body to be mounted on my special system. Glenn saw the system in the 308, it works but it broke at some point in the race, probably after blue because the car was slower after that lane.
I am also working on that Camaro of mine, longer wheelbase chassis that needs some swaybar tuning to help it tame the curves. It too may become a Pinatubo baby, but I need to test without the body first to see how much it helps. Alex's and my long car will be dieting in the meantime to try and get faster. However, my controller is going in for some tuning and repairs so I will be out for a little while. Then we will be back and I may need to become the blocker as I think the boy may be faster.

Good to ave you back racing Max. My son wants to join in for the fun! He has not raced slot cars with me for approx. 14 years, and this will be his first race on a "big track" and his first time racing a Hardbody car. Should be interesting.....
more projects coming together: Porsche 917, Audi R8,
