On a similar, but slightly different subject, someone came in today with one of these.
It's a 4002FK (assuming by the heavy Neo cog and Chinese arm) with a Fast Ones seal.
Are there any slot racing orgs that allow these, or is it just a "fun" motor?

Jim,
The only motor builder with legitimate access to Pro Slot seals is Pro Slot.

Mike,
I noticed a bunch of these on the wall at a raceway in Ohio a while back. I thought it odd at the time, but I figured it must be legit if the raceway was selling them.

Does anyone know where I can get some of these? I need to, uh, know what they look like so I can correctly, uh, identify them. Or something like that. It's probably a good idea to always have a few of these in your kit.

Oh come on Jim. Don't ruin this perfectly good flame fest before it gets really hot.

Pappy,
You're confusing at least Sam and myself.
With the subject being Pro Slot seals, and how you are wording your posts, it sounds like you are claiming Fast Ones has legitmate Pro Slot seals.
Hence, why James commented.

Thinking back, I believe this could be just an old seal on an old motor. Seems to me they came up with new seals for Retro racing because the old seals could be removed and put back on.
With the size of the pinion, the unground Hysol, it looks like a 4002FK (a two or three-year old motor)
The old seals did not stretch, AFAIR, and IIRC, they were a chrome silver.

Because it's a non-refurbable motor (by any rules I'm aware of).

Yes Mike, some racing organizations allow this. Two that come to mind is the Mid-America Hardbody org and the C.I.S.S. (Central Illinois Slot Series) BOTH in Illinois that allow PS-FK 4002 motors to be "refurbed" per their rules.
So while you may not be aware of some rules, you must not have got the "memo" on this being one of the two org's run events in your raceway.

It's my understanding that there at two racing orgs that allow refurbed FK motors. As Mason implied when starting this thread, no one had seals made to try and cheat the rules. These motors with these seals are not allowed run with that "other" retro org, only allowed in the two orgs that allow re-built FK motors. Of course unless you're allowed to race with refurbed FK motors at your local raceway, then you can, too.
Geeeezzzzz... will it ever end?

OK,
You guys in the know may be able to help me with this. I read that two orgs allow refurb of the PS 4002 FK. Surprising, but the rules are the rules. What I am not getting is how a new 4002FK is offered for sale in a PS package with a Fast Ones seal on it.
Can someone clear this up for me please?

To quote Brian Meharry, head of the the Mid-American Hardbody Series, "Definitely not legal for series racing."
As far as motors allowed to be refurbed in the CISS, I'm not familiar with their rules, but the person whose car is pictured in post #8, with one, said he bought four motors direct from Fast Ones, ready to go, with the Fast Ones seals on them. The amount he recalled paying, was $115, for the four.
