Sweet. Do the body mount holes match any existing body clips ?

More to the point--do the body mount holes line up to the Duffy Pinner?Posted Image

I like it too.

I've taken an interest in ORS, esp since Retro Pro is getting under way. ORS clearances .050 in front and rear.
I would describe this as a lightweight shaky plumber. Featuring a .035 strap front pan, axle tube for quick change out for the 1/16 axle that bends so easily. .062 primary and secondary main rails. .015 side pans. Sterrett style body mount/ pan support. 4.0 wheelbase with a .60 guide lead. It weighs in at a little under 40 grams. As with most of my chassis. Its 100% scratch built.

Rick,

Great, more stuff to buy!

Mark,

How thick are the brass pieces on your build?

The thinking with these things is almost fly weight. .035 for the front head pan. .015 side pans. The angle shape buffer plates between the main and secondary rails are. 035.

A sneak Peek at the Samurai 2.2 chassis for you all to critique.

There are some new features added to the Samurai II after over a year of testing and racing it. Some revisions to the plate. I threw one together to showcase some of the changes for viewing.

New features: integral guide tongue, built in lead wire loom, and the bite bar tabs. There are many ways to build it now with additional slot for double rail chassis or fill with a wire and build it a mono rail. You will notice two 1/4" holes in the pans, there will be 2 lead slugs with each chassis if you want to add that weight at the lowest possible point. Plate is 1" guide lead and if you want the plate can be had flat with no coining for you own tongue. More info when it hits The Parts Counter Later this week.

Available soon.............

Very cool Rick

I figured instead of rishking getting some "Warn Status" I would build a chassis out of some parts I had laying around.

Pans are from late 2007 or early 2008 or basically before any chassis kit was available. Obviously the JK bracket and the Backagra are more recent. Too bad I didn't feel like 2-1/2 hours of driving or I would have picked up one of those new coined tongues and used that.

What is the weight, wheelbase, and guide lead?

Hi Mark,
Just saw this post.

Weight: 95.5 (lead was added) race ready......No lead=89.6

Wheelbase: 3.70", (personally, I dont worry about wheelbase, frt wheels are more of an outrigger)

Guide lead: 4.55" (measured from center of rear axle to center of guide hole)

Fun Factor: Priceless !

Very neat design Rob. Is that .055 wire? Will the brass rods and motor mount move freely of the main rails?

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Thanks

All rails are .063 and soldered together. The brass is softer than the piano wire, I would estimate that is is about as stiff as .078 single rails? The back end is very durable using Rick's bracket and having the main rails go to the axle tubes. The square tubing acts like a fillet being soldered to the all three rails and the motor bracket. Something Larry needs :laugh2:

How do you keep the brass and steel from warping as it cools? Dissimilar metals expanding at different rates and all that?
Only way I can solder a brass rod along side a steel rod is to tack it in three places.
